Synopsis:

“When will we have given enough? When will we have lost enough? If there’s no one out there keeping track of how much pain we’re dealt, how much we’re asked to bear, then that’s the most terrifying thing, Silver. ’Cause if there’s no one keeping track…then there’s no one out there to make it stop.”

Pain is a currency the residents of Raleigh are rich in.

For Silver Parisi, life should be simpler than ever now that Jacob Weaving is behind bars. However, corruption runs deep within Raleigh’s town limits, and power and money will turn even those sworn to serve and protect in the end.

Alex Moretti’s never had anything to lose. Kicked from foster home to foster home, beaten, broken and abandoned, he’s used to fighting for his own survival. The brutal challenges he’s had to face have hardened him. Made him a savage force to be reckoned with.

But even the strongest amongst us have a breaking point…

Reckless At Raleigh High by Callie Hart is the third, and final, installment in the Raleigh Rebels series. I’m going to be honest, this last book was a dnf for me at 26% so this is going to be a very short review on the thoughts that led me to DNFing a book so early. I spent a lot of time wondering if I should actually write a review for this final book in a series, due to the fact that I stopped reading it so early on. So be warned, this review will be short.

For starters, I really liked Alex and Silver’s relationship in the first book (The Rebel At Raleigh High). I had extremely high hopes for these two and the battles they were going through, at that time. I loved watching Silver learn to trust again, and I loved seeing the redemption Alex was heading towards. The first book was great, minus the school shooting and the, I could have done without it, rape scene.

The second book in the series, Reckless At Raleigh High, was good, but it wasn’t my favorite. In some moments it lacked the connection between Alex and Silver that I had loved so much in the first book. But still, there were moments when these two really shined and had me crossing my fingers for an epic happily ever after, so I liked this one too, minus the very descriptive abduction/torture/physical abuse scene between Silver and her . . .

And now we come to the third book in the series, the book where Alex comes full circle and gets what he’s worked so hard for, custody of his younger brother….. All I can say, the prologue had me immediately considering DNFing this novel. But I didn’t, I gave it a chance. Honestly, it felt like this novel wasn’t going anywhere. There was more unnecessary drama, more trauma, and more tragedy. Alex and Silver were drifting apart, and I had pretty much predicted the outcome of this novel. Looking ahead, I found my predictions were true….

So instead of putting my time into a novel I wasn’t really feeling, I decided to DNF this one. I am still so angry by that prologue!! I felt that was a bit unnecessary, but to each their own.
