Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted byย That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week is a new bookish category in which we get to brag about our favorite books that fit with the weekโ€™s category. You can pick your top 5, 10, 15โ€ฆor so on. I tend to keep my list to ten!

Todayโ€™s category: Ten Most Recent Books I Did Not Finish

ย Sometimes it’s not the right time for a novel. Sometimes my brain isn’t able to comprehend the material in front of me. Sometimes the vibe of a novel is off, and sometimes I’m just not feeling it. These are all perfectly reasonable excuses for me to DNF a novel. I do have to say, it isn’t very often when I decide to close the book before the end and push it off to the side. In fact, it damn near kills me to have to do this. Here are 10 of my most recent additions to my DNF pile….

Playing Backstage with the Rockstar (Dirty South Book 2) Indulgence Serpent In White: A Twisted Tales Novel Blood Lust (Royal Bastards MC Savannah, Ga Chapter Book 1) Strangers in my Bed

Wait for Always (Coastal Chronicles Book 4) Love Is For Suckers: A hot, fun little romance. Tempting Little Thief Filthy Uncle To Go: A Forbidden Romance Kissing the Rival (The Kissing Games Book 2)

Kat Addams – Playing Backstage With The Rockstar
K.A. Berg – Indulgence
Nyla K. – Serpent In White
Erin Trejo – Blood Lust
Jade West – Strangers In My Bed
K.A. Linde – Wait For Always
Rebel Wild – Love Is For Suckers
Meagan Brandy – Tempting Little Thief
S.C. Adams – Filthy Uncle To Go
Kaylee Ryan – Kissing The Rival

    1. Thank you. The pain that came with DNFing a few of the books on my list was indescribable. I literally sat at my desk and made a pros and cons list to decide whether I should DNF the titles or not. UGH! The struggles of a reader. (LOL)

  1. I don’t mind DNFing a book that’s not working for me, but it is painful when I’m more than 50 pages or so into it. I don’t want to “waste” the time I’ve already spent reading and yet, if I’m reading a book I’m not enjoying then that is wasting time. LOL. The struggle is real!

    Happy TTT!

  2. I’ve really learned that sometimes, DNF’ing is the best thing you can do for the book as well, when it’s not working for you. Even if it’s just a temporary DNF. Pushing yourself through when you’re not feeling it for me, never really leads me to developing anything other than even more negative thoughts.

    1. That is so true. I used to refuse to DNF a novel, especially advanced copies, and then by the end of it I was scrambling with trying to critique and review the novel in an uplifting and positive way…. Let’s just say, I have learned a lot in my seven-ish years of reviewing novels. I don’t see DNFing books as a negative anymore.
