Synopsis:
I, Drake Colter, solemnly swear I do not want a girlfriend…
Carefree and ridiculously good-looking, I have the entire student body eating from the palm of my hand—shouldn’t I let the ladies on campus have their fill rather than being tied down?
If only my brother Drew would take notes from my playbook. As identical twins, we share the same voice, the same face, and the same physique; it’s virtually impossible to tell us apart—but that’s where the similarities end.
Lately, my brother has been whining about wanting to settle down. He longs for affection, companionship and all the bullshit that goes along with it blah blah blah.
Problem is, he’s hopeless when it comes to dating. It’s seriously embarrassing to watch, considering we’re identical; everyone thinks I’m him and everyone thinks he’s me.
Luckily I’m not intimidated by women and have plenty of experience. I might not want to find myself a girlfriend, but that don’t mean I can’t help him. Dude never needs to know!
And that’s the very thing that lands me in trouble…

How To Win The Girl by Sara Ney is the second standalone novel in her Campus Legends Series. This time it’s Drake Colter’s turn to find love within the feisty Daisy Bennett.
Drake is the infamous playboy on campus, who also happens to sometimes switch places with his identical twin brother, Drew, in the name of stirring shit up. When he finds his brother hitting dead end after dead end in the dating world, he takes it upon himself to find the infamous one for Drew…. With a profile set up on a dating app, Drake puts his mind on the task of hooking his brother up with a good girl. What he never expected in a million years, is that he’d fall for the one who he had earmarked for his brother.
Daisy doesn’t have time for dating, but sometimes loneliness rears its ugly head causing her to do something out of the ordinary… and that’s how Daisy finds herself on a dating app, swiping men left and right. When Drew Colter pops up as a perfect match, she’s taken aback. The man who she finds annoying in her class, is a perfect match for her… unreal. What was meant to be a profile decline, turned into an accidental acceptance… She’s about to learn, there may be more to Drew Colter than what meets the eye, including a different identity…
My Thoughts:
I’m still fairly new to the wonderful world of Sara Ney’s romance novels. What I’m loving so far is the comedy aspect she adds to her novels. I also love the fact that she writes wild/stubborn/and sometimes crazy heroines. I love sweet heart heroines, but sometimes its fun to switch it up a bit and throw something into the midst outside of the ordinary. I loved Daisy Bennett and her unwillingness to settle. Here is a woman who knows what she wants, and she’ll do everything in her power to see her wants come to life. I found her personality and ideology relatable.
And then we have Drake Colter, twin-switcheroo extraordinaire. This man finds trouble even when he’s not looking for it. I loved the whole twin-switch element, and sitting on the sidelines knowing this very moment is going to eventually come back and bite him in the ass, was my vibe throughout this whole novel. No matter how much he knew this was going to land him in the hot seat, he still continued to pursue the woman who had all the power in the world to steal his heart. This man showed his vulnerability through the moments of opening up to Daisy. I knew he was going to fall, and what a time it was to watch him have no choice in the matter.
Now, onto why I rated this novel 4 stars. I decided to give this one a four star rating because I wanted more one on one scenes between Daisy and Drake and less texting conversations. I felt like, yes, they could open up and be themselves through text.. But I wanted to feel that chemistry through a deeper and more physical connection. I wanted to see Drake more in Daisy’s element. I wish she would have thought of dates and one on one events. I feel like I got to know Drake through these moments but felt less connected to Daisy through these moments. I wanted to get to know her character too! So bottom line, I needed more face to face conversation and less text conversation in order for me to feel that true physical and emotional connection.

I get what you mean by wanting to see more of them together. I did love the texting, though. I gave this one 4 stars because Drake actually made me wonder if I was going to like this book in the beginning.
Looking back, I can see how you didn’t know if you were going to like Drake at the beginning of this novel. I thought the same thing for a couple of chapters. He was a bit flakey in my brain and I think it was the egomaniac vibe that threw me off a bit. But then he showed more of himself and became more likeable.
