This week has been all over the place, one minute is thirty degrees and snowing the next is sunny and sixty seven. I’m not even going to begin to question mother nature, all I know is this back and forth weather has brought a cold into my life… and I don’t appreciate it.
Anywho, today I decided to partake in another round of First Line Fridays!
First Line Fridays is a bookish meme created and hosted byย Hoarding Books. The rules are simple, post the first line(s) of the novel youโre currently reading or in my case next up on your TBR. then head on over to Hoarding Books and link up. (also, if youโre a romance reader loving on those ab covers, be sure to write (mature) next to your linky if your post shows mature content.)
Today’s first line(s) are from:
Until Merri
(Happily Ever Alpha World)
By: Suzanne Halliday
The view from the fifty yard line of the friend zone looked perfectly reasonable to a casual observer, but Tom was sickย and damn tired of being stuck in the middle.

Millicent โ donโt call me Millie- Merriweather has had a thing for Tom Franklin since she was twelve years old. At the time he was a senior in high school, which meant her dreams of being his girl weren’t meant to be.
Her thirtieth birthday is getting closer by the hour, but she’s still crushing big time on her first love. The problem is her childhood crush is now her BFF and Merri isn’t sure how to get out of the friend zone.
With a divorce under his belt, a Purple Heart stashed in a drawer, and a business to run, Tom Franklin chooses to avoid the dating scene. Besides, no one interests him the way Merri does. If only they weren’t trapped in the friend zone.
When Tom needs a date for a banquet recognizing his dad, he asks Merri.
With everyone they know cheering them on from the sidelines, the comically sexy misadventures of Tom and Merri begin.
What happens after that is a wild, laugh-filled, adventure.

Happy Friday!
Today on my blog I am sharing the first few lines from The Memory House by Rachel Hauck. It is SO awesome. You can see my post by going to: https://christianfictiongirl.blog/2019/04/11/first-line-friday-82-2/. Currently, I am on chapter 22, so I will share a line from there.
โThe knock came late as the house rattled with the crashes and flashes of a spring thunderstorm.โ
Hope you have a great weekend. Happy reading! ๐โค๏ธ๐
Ohh! This one sounds intriguing. Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a great weekend as well โค
It’s so good! I just finished it. Highly recommend. ๐
I added it to my tbr! โค
Happy Friday!
That opening line grabs a readers attention.
Today on my blog, I am sharing the opening line from Susan Anne Masonโs A Worthy Heart. Iโm also reading The Daughter of Highland Hall by Carrie Turansky. The first line is:
โIf she lived to be one hundred and five, Katherine Evangeline Ramsey would never understand why every debutante must begin the London social season by curtsying to the king and queen.โ
Hope you have a great weekend. ๐
Both of these authors are new to me. I’ll have to check them out! Thank you for sharing โค
Weddings, Willows, and Revised Expectations by V. Joy Palmer is on top of my โread this nextโ stack. Iโm sharing from Chapter 1 on my blog, so here is the first line from the prologue:
โA great philosopher looks at his various struggles as fodder for his innovative thinking, but, since I am not a great philosopher, I look at my struggles as something akin to stepping on a bee the size of a Komodo dragon.โ
Happy Friday and have a good weekend!
This sounds interesting. I love this weekly post. I’m anyways finding new authors to add to my tbr. Thank you for sharing and I hope you have a great weekend as well!
This is one of my favourite romance tropes ๐
I’m sharing the first line from Beyond the Stars, Past the Moons by Jebraun Clifford on my blog today. It’s from the Encircled anthology, which I’m looking forward to reading.
Here’s another first line from the anthology. This one is from Edged in Silver by Laurie Lucking:
“If only I didnโt have to go home.”
Happy reading. Have a great weekend ๐
I also love this trope. There is always a sweetness that comes with these novels.
Thank you so much for sharing your line. Both authors you mentioned are new to me. I really need to learn to expand my horizons in the book world.
I hope you have a great weekend as well โค
Today I’m sharing the first lines from Glory Road by Lauren K. Denton:
“I’d been on the porch steps shelling purple hull peas for less than an hour and my thumbnails had already turned purple.”
