No one lays open the heart and soul quite like New York Timesbestselling author Mia Sheridan.
The moment she met Callen Hayes, eleven-year-old Jessica Creswell knew he was a broken prince. Her prince. They became each other’s refuge, a safe and magical place far from their troubled lives. Until the day Callen kissed her—Jessica’s first real, dreamy kiss—and then disappeared from her life without a word.
Years later, everyone knows who Callen Hayes is. Famous composer. Infamous bad boy. What no one knows is that Callen’s music is now locked deep inside, trapped behind his own inner demons. It’s only when he withdraws to France to drink his way through the darkness that Callen stumbles into the one person who makes the music return. Jessica. His Jessie. And she still tastes of fresh, sweet innocence . . . even as she sets his blood on fire.
But they don’t belong in each other’s worlds anymore. There are too many mistakes. Too many secrets. Too many lies. All they have is that instinctive longing, that need—and something that looks dangerously like love.

2.5 Stars
Mia Sheridan is a new to me author. When I first started More Than Words, I had no idea what to expect. The only expectations in mind was More Than Words was going to be a great emotional read, given the fact that Mia Sheridan is highly talked about as being an angsty emotional writer.
Let’s dive into what More Than Words is all about…
Jessica Creswell and Callen Hayes first met in an abandoned boxcar on the railroad tracks. Callen was hiding from the abuse he received at home and Jessica was running from the constant bickering of her parents. A strong bond ultimately formed between the two that lasted for a little over a year. The two bonded over books and make believe. Until the night Callen kissed Jessica and than vanished.
Now, years later, Jessica is living her fulfilled dreams and is traveling all over france as an interpreter and Callen is a highly known composer. After a chance run in with a drunken Callen, Jessica’s dreams of what it would feel like to be reunited with her first love vanish. She wants a man who is willing to stand by her side and cherish her, not a man like her father who’s after his latest lay, a man who Callen has turned out to be exactly like.
My thoughts are a little scattered when it comes to this novel so bare with me as I try to get through this.
Mia Sheridan is a new to me author. I’m also a huge fan of emotional novels that have the ability to break my heart and bleed my dry before trying to put me back together again. As I read the reviews for More Than Words, I decided to try my hand at a new to me author and feel all the feels as the majority pointed out.
The first quarter of the book sucked me in, I loved the innocence of young love, Jessica and Callen literally had my stomach in knots and my heart fluttering. I loved them from the start. I loved the innocence and I loved the turmoil that each where dealing with. I really enjoyed the reading sessions and the progression of friendship that grew between the two. It was life like and so very real. As the time went on and their relationship grew, I knew that Callen was going to crush my heart. I didn’t know how but I knew it was going to happen. And then it did.
Now years later, and the book completely lost me. I loved the concept but I lost connection with these characters. I have no clue what went wrong and why, but given the fact that I felt a deep connection with Jessica and Callen and then POOF it vanished has me wondering if it was just me and a reading funk or if it was the vibe of this novel. I found Jessica’s job as a translator/interpreter fascinating and I loved the history that was woven in the story but maybe the focus on Jessica’s job was a little stronger compared to the focus on the relationship between Callen and Jessica. I also loved the fact that Callen still gives off the vibe’s of a struggling composer when he’s one of the most sought after in the industry. It saddened me to see him try to drink his problems and inner demons away.
Overall, even though I really enjoyed aspects of this novel, I needed more from the relationship. I greatly wanted to love this novel but More Than Words in my opinion was just okay.
Peace Love and Happy Reading,

I wasn’t a big fan of this book either. I highly recommend her book Archer’s Voice. That one was amazing. So much better than this one. Nice, honest review!
Thank you. I heard Archer’s Voice was amazing. Hmmm, I may have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!
You’re welcome!
