October Wrap up

Good morning!
It’s officially November! Where the hell did October go?
It went by way to fast but with October came some amazing novels that I loved.
First I’d like to discuss some non book related situations that I’ve been up to.
If you noticed I haven’t been posting anything but release blitz’s and cover reveals, I’m sorry about that. My dad was in the hospital for the entire month of October. He is scheduled to have heart surgery in two weeks :(. My head wasn’t really into blogging . But I’m happy to say my dad is back home for now! Don’t fret my dad is a fighter. He has battled a lot of illnesses in his life. I have faith knowing he will battle this and come out an even greater warrior in the end!
I also have a book haul i have to post for the months of September and October so be on the lookout for that.
Okay now onto the books I have read this month!
Again…I read mostly ARC’s in October. Books are now live except for Bedwrecker by Kim Karr. The only one that wasn’t an ARC is Fly by Molly McLain.

Let’s get this list started! Down below I posted a little snippet of what i thought of the novels.

(eArc) Touching Down by Nicole Williams (3.5 Stars): After reading a few books from Nicole Williams and absolutely loving them i was excited for Touching down. I found though i didn’t really care too much for this novel. I love the ‘Surprise your a daddy…but i didn’t tell you’ trope if it is told right. Having watched someone close to me go through a situation similar to this, i found the male protagonist’s (Grant) reactions to said events flawed. It was difficult for me to move on from that. Overall the story line was decent but the emotions throughout the novel were off.

(eArc) Jailbait by Emily Goodwin (3 Stars): Jailbait has a new name; it is now title All or Nothing. I liked this novel but that’s it. I really wanted to love this novel. The concept was enticing. The drawback for me was throughout the novel you’re wondering who Pepper’s dad wants Grayson to protect her from. It builds up to you basically questioning every character that comes in contact with Pepper. The conclusion was sadly disappointing when it comes to the huge breakthrough.

(eArc) Zero Fcks by L.K. Collins (5 Stars): I Loved Zero Fcks!!! Nixon is easy to love and hard to hate no matter how much he pisses you off in the beginning! Zero F*cks is a second chance romance. I loved the fact that this story centers around an ex Navy Seal (Nixon) who is forced to face his problems and situations he left back home and boy oh boy did he leave a fire burning back home and I’m not talking about the ‘scorching hot between the sheets’ fire. I’m talking about the ‘pissed off, i’m going to light a fire under your bum next time i see you’ fire 🙂

(eArc) Hat Trick by Kristen Hope Mazzola (4 Stars): I really enjoyed Hat Trick. This is a novel about forbidden romance. What i found interesting is that this novel is told in Three different point of views. Brayden is a fierce protector of his little sister Myla. Myla is trying to find a new path in life after a tragic car accident disrupts her previous path. Gavin is trying to make his dad who is also the coach of his hockey team proud, but is constantly let down at the fact that his dad doesn’t give a darn. When the characters point of views combine, that’s when shit hits the fan. Myla and Gavin meet for the first time and immediate sparks fly as they do with every romance novel. But this time we have an over protective big brother that has seen Gavin’s playboy ways and wants nothing to do with Gavin and his sister hooking up. There is also a twist to why this is a semi-forbidden romance. My only downside was, i felt Hat Trick was a little on the short side. I would have loved this novel to have been a little longer. I was left wanting more from Brayden, Myla, and Gavin. Hat Trick is pretty fast paced also, so beware if you like slow build-up novels.

(eArc) Black Swan Affair by K.L. Kreig (5 Stars)I’m not going to go into much detail about this one due to spoilers. just know that I really really liked this novel!

Fly by Molly McLain (4 Stars): Fly  centers around two best friends; Taylor and Colton. Taylor and Colton have been best friends since they were kids. Now Colton is a FMX rider and Taylor is a woman on a mission to take her life back. On their journey to find who they are and accomplishing their goals Taylor and Colton find that they have deep feelings for each other. Though they try to stay on their sides of the line in their relationship the chemistry builds and sparks fly making the situation uncontrollable. I love Friends to lovers novels. There is something about crossing that line and worrying whether the you can still keep you’re friendship the same and also venture into these new uncharted territories and come out with the relationship being stronger than ever or crumbling into dust.

(eArc) Fight by Molly McLain (5 Stars): Fight is the Conclusion to the Velocity series (Duet). I thought this was the perfect conclusion to Taylor and Colton’s story!

(eArc) One Step Closer by Kahlen Aymes (3 stars): Going into One Step Closer I was expecting this novel to be centered around an illegal underground fighting ring given the cover…nope…there is mention of him ‘fighting’ but that’s it. So if you are thinking this is a MMA/boxing/underground fighter novel, let me warn you right now, it is not. If you are into stepbrother romance novels then you will probably enjoy this novel but for me it was just okay.

(eArc) Boondocks by Casey Peeler (4 Stars): Moonshine, Country Music, and a man with a badass exterior along with a kind heart. What could be better! Also the crazy ass unexpected plot twist at the end will leave you dumbfounded. I really enjoyed boondocks.

(eArc) Knockout by CJ Martin (5 Stars): I was completely blown away by this novel! I wasn’t expecting to love Knockout as much as I did! Sean is a professional Boxer with a vendetta and a secret. His only goal is to be the best and will do anything to succeed. That is until he sets eyes on Kristen. I loved Sean he was everything I was looking for in a male protagonist with a fighting side; Raw, Rugged, and an Alpha Male!

(eArc) Hell and Back by Natasha Madison (5 Stars):  loved Hell and Back. The story line centering around such a horrifying subject was written beautifully. The characters where flawless. I felt every emotion they were feeling. I cried when they cried. Hell and Back was a moving story, it made me thankful for the life I had as a child and the life I have now.
This story is heartbreaking, but it’s also hopeful. It’s hopeful in the fact that I wanted, no, need Bella and Lilah to have a happy ending. Then when Jackson showed up I felt even more hope that he would be the one to tear down the walls that both Bella and Lilah were forced to put up to protect herself.

(eArc) Secrets of an Alpha Male by J.D. Hawkins (4 stars): I really liked this novel, What do you get when you take a cocky MMA fighter and a Yoga Instructer…You get a Kick Ass love story with a ton of heat!!!

(eArc) Mr. President by Katy Evans (5 Stars): You know your reading a great novel when you can’t wipe the smile off your face. . Matthew Hamilton is the epitome of who every american dreams will run for president one day. He’s intelligent, charismatic, Drop dead Gorgeous, and most importantly he’s old school, and he stands by his beliefs. He isn’t one to throw someone under the bus unless he is forced to show his hand. Damn, Matt even gave me hope for a better tomorrow. He gets my vote! 🙂  I loved the background story of when Charlotte and Matthew first met, the slow buildup of their relationship. At the beginning i smiled and thought ‘AWE THESE TWO ARE ADORABLE’ that however, quickly morphed into ‘HOLY HELL, THESE TWO ARE CRAZY HOT. I’m thrilled that this is a series. I wasn’t ready to let these two characters go. Not to mention it ends with a tiny cliffhanger. I’m dying to continue on and find out what happens next between Matthew and Charlotte!

(eArc) Bedwrecker by Kim Karr (4 Stars): I just finished Bedwrecker late last night. One thing i loved (even though i don’t like Taylor Swift) was the fact that the Chapters were titled after Taylor Swift songs, so in a way you got a glimpse of what was going to go down in a chapter. That was pretty clever. Bedwrecker centers around Keen and Maggie. Two people who have a phobia of relationships given their childhood backgrounds. This novel had some hilarious parts to it. But other than that it is your basic Romantic Comedy.
