Synopsis:
A hidden identities stand-alone from small-town romance author Brooke Montgomery about a girl who wakes up married in Vegas to her ex-boyfriend’s twin brother…
From the moment he calls the crisis hotline, I’m drawn to his voice.
As I help him through his darkest moments, we slowly get to know each other. The more he needs me, the more I need him, too.
A family emergency forces me away from my volunteer job, and I fear I’ll never talk to him again.
Until I’m introduced to my new boyfriend’s twin brother.
For years, we ignore the undeniable tension between us. Even after my break up with his brother, neither of us says a word about our history. He’s a player, and I’m too afraid of getting hurt again.
But then my restraint snaps, and I lose myself in a searing hot kiss.
When he doesn’t hold back, I realize he wants this as desperately as I do.
Before things can go further, he stops us, and my insecurities rush in.
Dealing with the pain of losing my dad, I’m more confused about my feelings than before.
My lapse in judgment leads to getting pulled over, and when chaos erupts, he knocks out the deputy—rewarding himself with a backseat ride in the sheriff’s SUV.
An article releases that tarnishes his reputation and threatens his family’s business. But when I bail out another man for a crime he didn’t commit, I get a target on my back, too.
My world flips upside down when we go to Vegas and wake up married. He begs me to give him a chance—thirty days to prove we should stay together.
But the honeymoon can’t last forever in a Southern small town.

Sin With Me is the fifth book in the Sugarland Creek Series by Brooke Montgomery. I highly recommend you read Only With Me (book four in the series) before diving into this book. And this book does come with some heavy triggers as Brooke Montgomery lays out in her Content Warning page at the beginning of her book. If you aren’t triggered by anything in romance novels then skip this part of my review. But if you find yourself triggered and never think to read the content warnings, they include: detailed mention of cutting, suicide, and substance abuse. Mental health discussions such as grief, depression, and panic attacks. The death of a parent (off page) and grief disorders. If you’ve read Only With Me, then you are aware of what this book entails. But if you haven’t had the chance to read that book, I’ll say it again, I recommend diving into Wilder’s twin brother’s story before diving into this one to fully understand Wilder and Delilah’s situation…
With that being said, let’s go ahead and dive into my review. Starting with what this book is all about and my thoughts on this novel. First off and as mentioned above, this novel is told from both Wilder and Delilah’s point of view. This novel does get very dark very fact so please BE PREPARED if you find any of the above content warnings to be triggering to your mental and emotional health.
In My Own Words:
For year’s Wilder has lived in the darkness that is his own mind. He’s numbed his pain by drinking, sleeping around, or resorting to more dangerous actions such as cutting. No matter how much Wilder tries to control his happiness, the darkness always ends up winning. But one night, he decides to take back a little bit of control and calls a crisis center hotline. Never would he have dreamed his very own Angel in disguise would answer the phone, and ultimately have a helping hand in grounding him and saving his life.
Delilah has lived her life always taking care and looking out for others. Her sister, her disabled father, and her mother. Not only those three lives, but the lives of those who call into the Crisis Center Hotline. She finds a purpose and a profound need in helping those seeking her guidance. Especially one important caller who goes by the name ‘Luke’. Something in her soul calls out to him. So when he calls back every night she volunteers, Delilah answers with no hesitation.
Now, years later, Delilah often thinks about ‘Luke’ or should she say Wilder, her ex-boyfriend’s twin brother and the attraction and soul inspiring love she feels for him. But what she knows will be her own little secret. For the world to see, she’ll show them that Wilder is just the annoying twin brother that she despises. Until one night in Vegas has the potential to knock through every single brick, she built in her plan to avoid the unmentionable. AND that’s where I’m going to leave you all hanging. If you want more, you’ll have to read the book!!
My Thoughts:
Brutal honesty: I knew it was going to take me a long time to get through this book. After reading Only With Me, I had a feeling I needed to deeply prepare my heart for Delilah’s story and the grief that would be mentioned in her point of view. This woman resonated something within me. I loved the premise of her point of view. Finding joy again after such a devastating loss. One thing, I wish there were more on-page moments of her battling those stages of loss and grief. I understand why it wasn’t over-dramatized, due to Wilder’s lifelong struggles with his mental health. I just wanted more open dialogue on all the array of emotions that Delilah was going through. That is why I decided to drop a ½ star where Delilah’s character is concerned. I wanted more emotion from her instead of a mere mention.
And then we have Wilder. I loved how Wilder found inspiration to work on his mental health due to news that rocked Delilah and her family’s life. This man is trying to better himself, not only for those around him, but for himself. And I think that’s the most important message of this novel. At the end of the day, you need to work on yourself, not for those around you, but for yourself! My heart adored Wilder and broke for all he went through. There was a reason why I decided to drop a ½ star concerning Wilder’s character. An important part of this novel was Wilder going to therapy, I would have loved to see a few scenes of Wilder in a therapy session. I would have really liked to see him open and vulnerable, maybe that would help me understand him on a whole new level.
Overall, Sin With Me was exactly how I imagined it would be, inspiring, dramatic, emotional, and breathtakingly beautiful. I loved watching the mental growth both Wilder and Delilah showed through this novel. I loved that they turned out to be each other’s person to lean on, shoulder to cry on, and an ultimate partner for support. I loved the emotional moments, the fun and joyous moments, and the sexy moments. These two were made for one another. I’m sad to see this series end, but I’m excited for the next series that will be taking over my life for a few months! Honestly, I love small town romances with spice, drama, and plenty of emotion and Brooke Montgomery excels at those features! I can’t wait to read more from her in the very near future!
