I started my reading journey many years ago. My romance reading journey was started at ten years old when I would sneak books from my moms harlequin stash and true romance magazines from my grandmothers stockpile. From that moment on, as long as a novel had a romance aspect, I was reading it! Along the way, there have been a few books that live rent free in my head. So let’s dive into the books!

The Thoughtless Series by S.C. Stephens will live rent free in my head due to the fact that Kellan Kyle was my first look into the wonderful world of rockstar book boyfriends. After I completely demolished this series in a few days, I looked on goodreads for more and found so many other books pertaining to rockstars finding their true loves and I never looked back! It’s been a whirlwind of emotions from books by Olivia Cunning, Carian Cole, Sasha Marshall and MANY MORE…. I owe my obsession for rockstars to S.C. Stephens for placing Kellan Kyle in my life.

I have Katy Evans and Jamie McGuire for fueling my obsession with book heroes who are involved in fighting. I can’t remember which book I read first, Real by Katy Evans or Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire. I’m pretty sure these two were read in the same week. But at the end of the day, these two books have lived rent free in my head from the moment I started reading them. I was consumed from start to finish. Remy and Travis fueled a frenzy to read all books consisting of alpha-heroes who fight, literally, for those they love and cherish most. So thank you Katy Evans and Jamie McGuire for living rent free in my head! I’ll never forget these characters and their storylines.

Now on to the angsty side of the trope spectrum. It’s not often I cry while reading a novel. However, some novels have shredded my heart, and I’m still not over it. Let’s take Tillie Cole’s A Thousand Boy Kisses for example. This book had me crying from the start. I remember a few times Mr. Man tore the book from my hands and told me to go take a walk. That it was time to separate myself from the storyline. This story would build you up to break you down again. No moment was safe, I never knew if there was another punch waiting around the twist. And that’s why I loved this one so much. I’m pretty sure Rune and Poppy’s story will live rent free in my head until the end of time.
City Of Bones

There was a time when all I would read was Fantasy with a romance spin, otherwise known as Romantasy, books. Let’s take The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare for example. I consumed this series in less than a week and wanted more! I was new to this genre and soon I was picking up all the books labeled fantasy! Clary and Jace were everything to me, back then. I loved the brooding from Jace and the strength from Clary. Just thinking about this series now has me wanting to reread it and the entire world. I haven’t read a fantasy in quite some time but when I think of the sub-genre, my mind falls on this series.

The first book that comes to mind when I think of the romcom sub-genre is Wallbanger by Alice Clayton. Caroline and Simon’s story had me laughing from the moment I picked this book up. When I say laughing, I mean clutching my sides in complete pain because I can’t stop, laughing. It takes a lot of talent for an author to inflict joyful pain on her readers and that’s exactly what happened. I loved the next door neighbor from hell storyline, and add in a feisty cat who also detests said neighbor and you have some epically hilarious moments. And those are the main reasons this book lives rent free in my head.
Reaper’s Property

Reaper’s Property by Joanna Wylde was the book that introduced me to the wonderful world of Motorcycle Club romance novels/series. What can I say, I love a hero with bad boy qualities and and alphamale persona and HORSE brought all that and so much more to this novel. I was obsessed with Horse and Maria’s storyline so much I decided to venture out and read more books in this sub-genre! For a year, I was consumed and only read MC Romance novels. This genre obsession caused me to find other MC authors like Jamie Begley, M.N. Forgy, Beth Flynn and Kristen Ashley. I still adore this genre and the Reaper’s MC Series by Joanna Wylde. I’m actually feeling a reread coming up in my very near future!
