The Heart Of Us by Kennedy Fox is the fourth book in the Love In Isolation series. If you are new to this series, don’t fret, each novel in this series can be read as a standalone! The one thing I’ve come to love when it comes to Kennedy Fox’s writing is the amount of heart they put into each and every novel. I know I’m going to walk away with a smile on my face.

In My Own Words:

The Heart Of Us is told from both Tatum and Easton’s point of view. The one thing about secrets is they always have a way of exposing themselves, and Tatum knows that firsthand. When Tatum’s hopefully soon to be ex-husband shows up, she knows he’s finally found her and once he catches her the consequences are going to be even worse than before.

The attraction Easton felt for Tatum was stronger than he could have ever imagined. Now, knowing Tatum’s secret Easton will do everything in his power to protect the one woman who is quickly laying claim to his heart. He’ll do everything he can to see her soon to be ex-husband gets everything he deserves. But sometimes the enemy is the first to strike… Easton is about to realize, this game that’s being played is deadlier than he ever could imagine, especially when he wakes up to his shop and his apartment burning down all around him.

Now, Easton takes Tatum to the only place he can think of to protect her and hide her from her ex-husband. This place is the same place his brother took the new love of his life to protect her. The family beach house, where bonds are made and love grows stronger.

My Thoughts:

Kennedy Fox…. What are you doing to me?!
I am loving the ‘Forced Proximity’ trope. My heart nearly trampled out of my chest for Tatum and Easton. I loved their chemistry and the connection these two had from the start. And the reasoning behind why I rated this a 3 ½ star had nothing to do with these two. I’m telling you, these two are perfect together. Easton had me swooning with his heartthrob ways and Tatum had me laughing with her quick wit. These two characters also had me feeling all the emotions!

I also loved the moment Tatum taught Easton how to do yoga! This moment made me laugh so freaking hard due to the fact that I’m currently working on getting my man to participate in yoga with me! I’m telling you all, it’s freaking hilarious to witness in real life. They think it’s so easy, until their down on the floor! Easton’s reaction was one I’ll never forget. Now, Easton learned a new trait/hobby, it’s only fair that Tatum be shown something she doesn’t know, so Easton teaches her to surf! I was head over boots for these one on one moments! The more solo time they spent together, the greater their relationship grew. My heart loved all of these moments!

And let’s not forget that reverse age gap twist Kennedy Fox threw into the midst of it all. Tatum is eight years older than Easton… I don’t recall ever reading a romance where the heroine is older than the hero…. But holy crows feet! I was living for this vibe!!!

Now onto the reason why I rated this a 3 ½ stars was the story within itself. I felt the lines and the premise of this story were very similar to the ones that were Easton’s brother Tristan and his happily ever after Piper. A damsel in distress getting swept away to a remote cabin in the middle of nowhere by her happily ever after hero in disguise…. I don’t know, the love in isolation portion of this one was a little too familiar…

Overall, I loved the relationship aspect. My heart loved Easton and Tatum, but I needed a little more where the premise of this novel was concerned.
