Blurb:

From Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson comes a second chance sports romance.

Blackmail isn’t the most romantic way to propose, but with the history between us … I had no choice.

Long story short–I broke her heart and pushed her away. Years later we reconnected, and this time she walked away.

Neither of us knew she was pregnant.

So when we had a second chance to be a real family, I led her to believe our marriage was fake— that one football season by my side was the only way to prevent another scandal for my career.

We were a publicist’s dream. I was a football god and she was a world-famous romance author.

The world would fall in love with our story…

But the truth was…

I was never letting them go.

Every time a novel by M. Robinson shows up on my kindle, I feel this immense excitement flow through my system! I set aside special time to binge her novels, because I know once I start reading it’s going to be hard putting the book down. I’m getting ready to start this one, so here’s to hoping Second Chance Scandal will be everything I anticipate it being!!!

In My Own Words

Second Chance Scandal is the third book in M. Robinson’s Second Chance series. If you’re new to the second chance series, don’t fret, all books in this series can be read as standalones.

Jax is the G.O.A.T in the NFL, and given his recent trade comes a new scandal. Miami isn’t happy to let the man go, but this was always Jax’s plan. He wants complete control of a team, and he isn’t getting what he wants in Miami. Football is his life, and he can’t take another hit to his career. So his publicist, Autumn, comes up with a plan. Cause a bigger stir in the gossip rags and put a positive spin on the trade situation. Jax has to get married, and no better person to marry than the woman who stole his heart… the same woman who also had her heart shattered in the midst of it all…. Jax is about to realize Sophie isn’t as innocent as she looks, and the six year old secret she’s been keeping from him is about to be spotlight news….

My Thoughts:

If you love swoony heroes with dirty mouths, Second Chance Scandal is one you shouldn’t miss out on. I couldn’t get enough of Mr. Jax Colton’s extremely dirty mouth. This man is the epitome of sexy as sin. As for Sophie, I loved her feisty vibes and her, I’m not about to let him get back in my bed and my heart without some serious groveling attitude. This woman was fierce as hell, a true mama bear. I also loved the fact that she was a romance author!

And with all the character love, I still found myself scratching my head and looking to the sky for answers on what was missing with this one. And here is why I rated this one a three star rating. You see, I loved the characters and I loved the premise of this novel. I felt there were a few holes in the plot line and there was quite a bit of jumping around. I wanted to feel a strong connection grow from Jax and Sophie. I wanted the feeling of knowing these two were meant to be together until the end of time. But sadly, that feeling didn’t hit me in the heartstrings. I also felt this was a big storyline that had the potential to break reader’s hearts and steal all of our tears where Ben (Sophie and Jax’s son) was concerned. I wanted more of a connection between Ben and Jax. Maybe a few one on one moments of bonding time between the father and the son. I didn’t feel like Ben was as important in this novel as he should have been.

So in an overall view, if you’re looking for a novel with hot sexy time moments and a swoony dirty mouthed alpha male who would do everything in his power to keep the one he loved and lost long ago, I can see you loving this one. I, however, wanted more where this newly found and developed family is concerned. I wanted that deep heartbreaking and gut-wrenching angst that M. Robinson tends to bring to her novels, and sadly I did not feel that with this one.
