Book 1 of 3 in the Nine Minutes Trilogy
On May 15, 1975, fifteen-year-old Ginny Lemon is abducted from a convenience store in Fort Lauderdale by a member of one of the most notorious and brutal motorcycle gangs in South Florida.
From that moment on, her life is forever changed. She gets a new name, a new identity and a new life in the midst of the gang’s base on the edge of the Florida Everglades—a frightening, rough and violent world much like the swamps themselves, where everyone has an alias and loyalty is tantamount to survival.
And at the center of it all is the gang’s leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. She becomes his obsession and the one true love of his life.
So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows and forced to lean on the one person who provides attention, affection and care: her captor. Precocious and intelligent, but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity.
Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive—or get out at all? Part psychological thriller, part coming-of-age novel, filled with mystery, romance and unexpected turns, Nine Minutes takes readers into the world of one motorcycle gang and inside the heart of a young girl, whose abduction brought about its fall.

“He was my first love. He was a true love. In fact, he was the biological father of my firstborn, though she would never meet him. He wanted it that way. And deep down, so did I.”
Nine Minutes by Beth Flynn is the first book in the Nine Minutes Trilogy. I was given the recommendation to read this book from a blogger I follow and because we share the same tastes in reading I decided to give Nine Minutes a chance. I just finished this book and holy hell, I think I’ve been hiding under a rock for the past few years. Why did it take me so long to pick up this novel? And the part that kills me the most… Nine Minutes has been on my kindle for the past few years and I forgot all about it… I’m so upset right now for not reading this book sooner…
Beth Flynn tells a tale of a young girl who gets abducted by a Motorcycle Club and is held captive for years. In those years she falls in love, gets married, and has a baby. Now that may seem like a lot to take in… but trust me when I say, all that hasn’t even begun to scratch the surface.
When I first started this book, I honestly didn’t know what to think of it. I liked it but I didn’t love it at first. And then the craziest thing happened. I started to really love Grizz and Ginny as a couple. I started to cheer them on as a couple. I was team Grizz. Hell I think I’m still team Grizz. And then the craziest thing happened. My brain locked back into normal and I realized I’m cheering on a kidnapper……. SERIOUSLY! I was freaking rooting for a couple that consists of an abducted child and her kidnapper. WTF!?!? Now that right there is proof that Beth Flynn is not only a fantastic author but she’s a phenomenal story teller. She made me fall for a relationship that is so damn unconventional and wrong, its outstanding.
It took me a week for my mind to finally settle down and let me write this review. When I finished the novel I was overwhelmed with grief. Now this is something that normally doesn’t happen with me when I read. It’s true I feel sad and I’ve been known to ugly cry a time or two. But not once have I felt an outstanding amount of loss like this. I’m not going to go into detail, but I blame all the twists and turns. The unexpected is a bitch to take in sometimes.
Now onto why I rated it a 4 star rating instead of a full 5 star.
I loved this story but I had an issue with a few moments. I’m not here to spoil anyone so I’m going to keep this as spoiler free as I can and just say there were a few moments when I felt disconnected from Ginny (Kit). I needed a little more emotion on her end in these moments. I wanted the tears and the ugly sobbing. I wanted to feel the heartache in those final moments. But it felt a tad bit rushed.
Overall, I loved Nine Minutes. I loved the characters and the mind trip Beth Flynn gave me. The twists and turns were epic. The relationships consumed me. Nine Minutes was a great read that completely overrode every thought from beginning to end. If you haven’t read this novel yet, you definitely need to give it a try!

YES!!! This review is EVERYTHING! You hit it all so perfectly. I also fell in love with Grizz and then was like how could I love him? Look what he did! I’m so, so happy you took my recommendation and read this. I now need you to finish the series. I think Out of Time is going to BLOW your mind!
P.S. Did you know that the cover model is Beth Flynn’s real life daughter?
Ah! I’m only 4% into out of time and I’m about to have a nervous breakdown!! If this boy is Grizz, it makes perfect sense why he is the way he is! I legit have arcs due soon but I can’t seem to put this one down!
I had no idea the cover model is the authors daughter. That is so cool!
You’re in for a CRAZY ride! I don’t blame you for not wanting to put it down!
