As a little girl, I remember sitting in front of the television and binging on my favorite fairy tales. I would force my parents to pull out the big fairytale collection book and read me two stories before bed each night. So to say I’m the biggest fairytale fan would be a complete understatement. Once I became older and started picking up romance novels those quickly became my happily ever after fairy tales.
When I first heard about “The Sinister Fairy Tales Collection’ every emotion I never thought possible rain through me like a wildfire. There was fear and worry that these stories wouldn’t live up to the hype I had instantly surrounded them with but mostly there was excitement. I’m excited to see what these authors bring to the table!
I just finished Cold Queen by K. Webster. I never thought I would enjoy a ‘Frozen’ Fairytale retelling. To be honest, I liked Frozen but I didn’t love it so I was a little worried about my views of the actual Fairy Tale would outshine K. Webster’s retelling of thus fairytale. I learned one thing after reading Cold Queen….. K Webster knows how to tell a freaking story!!! I was completely blown away! This was nothing like the Frozen we watch on the screen. Cold Queen is dark and sinister. This is definitely my kind of read!!!
I loved the characters and all the freaking twists and turns. Being completely honest as I try to do with all my bookish reviews I’m going to state the fact that Cold Queen was the book that I was least looking forward too because of the Frozen vibes. But after finished this dark read I have come to a conclusion that this may be the best book of the collection!! It was so hard to put this book down once I started it. It was an extremely long night, but it was so worth it.
I’m not going to go into extreme detail of what the book is about. But if you’re curious, picture a Frozen world that crosses into the Game of Thrones realm …and you have Cold Queen! This story was EPIC! I literally can’t wait to read it again!!!!
