Today I’m finishing up an advanced copy of The Savage Gentleman by Christopher Harlan. This novel started up on a slow note for me. I couldn’t get into it and I honestly thought about DNFing it. But then something miraculous happened. All of a sudden I was completely sucked into this storyline. MMA/Fighter romances is one of my most favorite tropes in the genre. So I went into this one having extremely high expectations. I’m now loving Lucas and Mila’s story! As of right now (at 48%) I would rate this one with a 4 star rating.

My name is Lucas “The Ghost” Esparza.

I’m the best MMA fighter in the world that you’ve never heard of, but if I have my way, I’ll be a household name soon enough. My life’s been nothing but hard training, crazy partying, and fast women, and that’s just how I liked it. No man had ever gotten the better of me inside the cage, and no woman had ever been able to slow down my lifestyle outside of it.

And then it all came crashing down.

When I tasted defeat for the first time in the biggest fight of my life, I was a broken man—my pride destroyed and my dreams of greatness deferred.

That’s when Mila walked into my gym.

When my trainer told me I had to giver her self defense lessons because she was a ‘special case’, I had no idea what he meant. All I knew was that she had a body to die for, and a face that made me forget my own name. I’d been with my share of women, but she was easily the sexiest I’d ever laid eyes on.

There was only one problem—we hated each other with a passion!

I thought she was whiny with a bad attitude. She thought I was full of myself. But then something happened that changed everything between us. She gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams once again—to be a champion, to make it into the UFC, and to be the savage gentleman that I was born to be.

I only finished two books since my last WWW Wednesday post. The first is an advanced copy of Down Too Deep by J. Daniels…. OH MY GAWD!!!! I am still falling head over heels in love with this story and these characters! J. Daniels has definitely outdone herself with Nathan and Jenna’s story. This is one sweet and swoony story I won’t be forgetting anytime in the near and far future. I’m obsessed!!

Two single parents and three adorable kids are about to have a summer they’ll never forget in this sexy, heartwarming new novel of the New York Times bestselling series.
Following the sudden death of his wife, Nathan Bell spent nearly two years burying himself in work and neglecting his biggest responsibility: his daughter. Overcome with guilt, he wants to connect with little Marley, but he doesn’t know how to do it alone. And then Jenna Savage throws him a lifeline.
A single mom of twins, Jenna is more than capable of taking care of Nathan’s adorable two-year-old and wants to help Nathan however she can. As the days go by and her attraction to Nathan grows, she can’t help wondering what might happen if they became a family for real. And the closer everyone becomes, the more right it feels.
Falling in love forces Nathan to face his biggest fear, and when hearts — both big and little — are on the line, the only thing scarier than needing Jenna and her kids so much is losing them all.

I also finished an advanced copy of Nowhere Left To Run by Kat Mizera. This novel is the second book in the Nowhere Trilogy and should be read after reading Nowhere Left To Fall. If I’m being completely honest, this was just an okay read for me. In my opinion, there was to much going on for me to be able to connect with the characters. It was one angsty moment right after another and hardly any space between moments for me to grasp what was happening. This novel is also extremely fast paced and often at times felt extremely rushed. I rated this one 3 stars only because of the ending and the romance between Erik and Casey. I’m dying to know if these two are finally able to have their happily ever after….. Hopefully there’s a little less going on in the conclusion. I mean what else can these characters possibly go through that they haven’t already been through… Seriously…

I have nowhere left to run…

I’ll never love another the way I loved him. He might have been a prince, but to me he was just Erik. The father of my child. The man whose love was so fierce, it’s like it never left me.

Some days I swear I can still feel his presence surrounding me, until I’m reminded that our love song is over.

Moving on is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do.

Hollow without him, the music that’s been pouring out of my soul is the only way to ease the ache.

It will never replace the love of my life, but for my baby’s sake, I have to try.

Every tragic lyric, every minor chord, proves that I can’t outrun his ghost or the truth… my heart beats only for him.
