First Line Fridays is a bookish meme created and hosted byย Hoarding Books. The rules are simple, post the first line(s) of the novel youโre currently reading or in my case next up on your TBR. then head on over to Hoarding Books and link up. (also, if youโre a romance reader loving on those ab covers, be sure to write (mature) next to your linky if your post shows mature content.)
Todayโs first line(s) are from:
Justified
(Loveless, Texas #1)
By: Jay Crownover

‘I feel it is in the bestย interest of the child if full custody of the juvenile goes to the mother. I also approve her request for the increase in child support. The father will be allowed supervised visits overseen b a representative of the court. We will revisit the issue in a year.”ย At that statement, an animalistic growl sounded from the table across from me.

Theย New York Timesย bestselling author of the Marked Men series delivers a romance about a rugged Texas sheriff who must protect the woman who was once his sworn enemy…
Case Lawton comes from a family of criminals. So as the sheriff of Loveless, Texas, he’s determined to do everything by the book–until he’s called to Aspen Barlow’s office after a so-called break-in. The last thing he wants to do is help the woman who cost him custody of his son. But Aspen isn’t the heartless lawyer Case remembers, and he starts to question his long-held grudge…
Aspen is scared for her life, and Case is her last hope for protection. But to get him on her side, she’ll have to reveal the painful truth from all those years ago. Now, as they work together to track down a dangerous criminal, Case and Aspen learn to trust each other. And as the threats escalate, it becomes clear there’s a thin line between love and hate… because there’s nothing Case wouldn’t do to keep her safe.

I loved this book! I think it’s my favorite I’ve read of hers so far. Great first line pick!
It’s been a busy week for me so I’m still currently reading this one. I’m really enjoying it! Suspense and a sexy broody cowboy….what’s not to love!!
Great first line ๐
I’m sharing the opening line from The Secret to Hummingbird Cake by Celeste Fletcher McHale over on my blog today, and I’m currently reading Wickedly Charming by Kristine Grayson. I clicked “buy” on the first line of the sample:
“Book Fair. The very words of the sign filled Mellie with loathing. Book Fair indeed. More like Book Unfair.”
Quirky, and it appeals to my sense of humour. I’m halfway through and loving it! Happy reading ๐
Thank you so much for sharing! Both are new to me authors. I’ll definitely be checking them out. Happy reading โค
This book sounds intriguing! ๐
Today Iโm sharing on my blog the first line from The Cowboyโs Convenient Marriage by Valerie Comer.
Spencer Haviland had prided himself on planning his life to the tiniest detail.
I love cowboy romances! I may have to check this one out ๐
Ooo sounds good!
It’s so good!
