Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s category: Books I Was Reading On This Day Over the Last Ten Years

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TODAY’S CATEGORY!!! But if I’m being honest, I think my memory is lacking a bit. There are a few novels below that i don’t remember the context of said story. But any who, let’s dive into the books and what I initially thought of them…back in the day.

I was reading RUN THE PLAY by KAYLEE RYAN on August 11th, 2025

” I hand my heart over to Kaylee Ryan for writing another epic romance with an incredible storyline and an unforgettable happily ever after!”

kindleunlimited: https://amzn.to/4v0MPkO

Synopsis:

NYT and USA Today Bestselling author Kaylee Ryan brings you a new standalone series surrounding the Nashville Rampage football team. Run the Play is a fake dating, found family, workplace, he falls first romance.

Rowan

I swore I’d never look twice at a football player again, especially after barely surviving the last one. But when my abusive ex gets traded to the team I work for, my past shows up to haunt me.

Not a moment too soon, star player Landry Reynolds runs interference, announcing that he’s my boyfriend. My emotions get the best of me, and I find myself playing along.

He’s charming, bold, and way too convincing. The more time we spend together, the harder it is to remember that it’s all pretend.

I might be falling for my fake boyfriend, but I can never have him for real. I could lose everything I’ve finally found, and that’s scarier than having my heart crushed by the wide receiver.

Landry

I didn’t mean to get involved. I just couldn’t watch her shrink away from him a second longer—not after knowing what he put her through.

So I did what I do best: I ran the play and told him she’s mine. Now I can’t stop thinking about how right that little white lie feels. How right she feels.

There’s a good chance I was never faking.

This started as a way to protect her. I never imagined it’d be so hard keeping my hands off her. Then again, I’ve never been very good at following the rules.

I was reading BENEATH THE DESERT SUN by KAYLEE RYAN and LACEY BLACK on August 11th, 2024

Beneath The Desert Sun is the second book in the Never Too Far series by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black. I gave this book a 3 star rating, due to the emotional impact the first book had on me, and this book slightly lacking those emotions that I craved. It was a great romance, I just needed more of an emotional journey.

Synopsis:

Faith

Graduating from college is bittersweet. I’ve accomplished my dreams, obtained my teaching degree, and am ready to find my dream job. However, I never realized how difficult or stressful it would be to find a position.

That’s why I jump at the chance to visit Chad, one of my best friends, on base in California.

It was meant to be two weeks of catching up and putting all thoughts of job hunting out of my mind. Little did I know those two weeks would change my life and alter the course we were both on.

Chad

The day she agrees to join me in California is one of the happiest days of my life. Having her with me gives me the taste of home I’ve been craving, but deep down, it’s more than that. She’s important to me, more than just my friend, and my closest friend’s twin sister.

Spending my nights with her has done nothing but reinforce this feeling I get when I’m with her. I know we said we’d keep things light, but she’s making it so damn hard not to want more.

Then I get stationed overseas. Everything changes in the blink of an eye, and I’m not just talking about our jobs or the fact we’re suddenly thousands of miles apart. Call it fate or destiny or just pure luck, but it’s beneath the desert sun that finally our future becomes clear.

I was reading ROCKED by TANIA JOYCE on August 11th, 2023

“I thought this was a great insight to what’s to come in the Everhide Rockstar Romance series. I really liked seeing how Gemma, Kyle, and Hunter met in high school. This novel has me wanting to immediately jump into the series!’ Is what I stated three years ago when i wrote my review for Rocked by Tania Joyce. But for the life of me, I do not remember reading this book…. maybe I need to change that and add another re-read to my reading list… we shall see.

ROCKED - The Price of Dreams: Everhide Rockstar Romance Series - Prequel

Amazon: https://amzn.to/4an7TcP

Synopsis:

GEMMA
I was twelve when my father abandoned me and left me with my gold-digging mother.
At high school, my two best friends, Hunter and Kyle, became my world.

Music united us. Bound us together.
We shared the same dreams . . . to become rockstars and to get out of this God forsaken town.

But the people who were supposed to love us, didn’t.
Those who were supposed to encourage us, thought we were wasting our time.
Some hurt us beyond repair.
One horrific night threatened to destroy everything we worked so hard for.

But we refused to give up.

We were determined to take on the world.
We wanted to create something no one had never seen before. Become one of the biggest bands on the planet.

But would our messed-up home lives tear us apart?
Would our friendship and love for each other stand the test of time or would our battered souls and broken hearts sabotage our hopes and dreams?

From the moment we played our first note together, nothing could’ve prepared me for the path that lay ahead.

This is the prequel to the Everhide Rockstar Romance Series. This is a PRE-ROMANCE that leads into the relationships that develop throughout the series.

NOTE: This book contains sensitive content around loss and domestic violence.

I was reading NEXT IN LINE by AMY DAWS on August 11th, 2022

One thing I realized making this post, I was HORRIBLE at not reviewing books a few years ago. I remember reading Next In Line, and I remember loving it! However, I can’t recall why I gave it a 4 star rating. So anywho, I have a feeling there are going to be quite a few of these books in this lineup.

Next In Line: A Spicy Brother's Best Friend Rom-Com (Wait With Me Book 2)

kindleunlimited: https://amzn.to/4ftAuk8

Synopsis:

What happens when the cute mountain man you made out with in an ice fishing shack turns out to be your brother’s best friend?

A whole lot of awkward.

Maggie was supposed to be visiting her brother, Miles, in Colorado after a disastrous breakup with the man she thought she was going to spend the rest of her life with. She was seeking adventure, new experiences, and comfort from her overprotective big brother. Not a filthy-hot make-out session at Marv’s Bait & Tackle with a guy who had the biggest hands she’s ever seen.

Maggie’s mind reels when she discovers the man she got tangled up with isn’t a stranger like she thought but her brother’s best friend, who she’s never met.

Now Sam and Maggie are forced to hide the truth from Miles and the rest of his friends or risk a huge fallout.

The big snag: Sam and Maggie’s chemistry is hot enough to melt ice, which makes keeping their secret far more difficult than either expected.

Especially when one of them decides they want this arrangement to be more than just a catch and release.

Next In Line is book 2 in the Wait With Me Series but reads great as a standalone.

I was reading BULLY KING by J.A. HUSS on August 11th, 2020

I was reading THE PERFECT BAST*RD by LK COLLINS on August 11th, 2017

“The Perfect Bast*rd is a story about the true struggles of being a single father and raising two teenage girls. I love the emotion that shines bright through the characters in this novel!

All she has to do is stick to her plan and keep her focus on work, which should be easy, right?

Besides, in a city of half a million people, how hard can it be to avoid the perfect bast*rd?

I was reading ANTI-STEPBROTHER by TIJAN on August 11th, 2016

“Anti-Stepbrother is full of drama and humorous scenes that will no doubt have you laughing out loud in public places and embarrassing the hell out of yourself! Trust me when i say i know this from experience! Also Anti-Stepbrother had two different sides to the story. How Can i explain this to where i make sense. Okay so there was the happy, humorous side to things like the jokes and back and forth banter between the friends. But then there is also a serious side to Anti-Stepbrother. I don’t want to give anything away so let me end this part by saying Caden and Marcus are living with a secret that is not theirs’s to tell! I thought that portion of the novel blended in perfectly. So on one side you had the funny Summer side but you also had Caden’s need to keep people at a distance. I was left wondering why is he like this until…BAM…the secrets are exposed and i was left thinking holy crap this book just took a dark turn”

Anti-Stepbrother

Amazon: https://amzn.to/4xeJzDN

Synopsis:

He told me to settle.
He asked what was wrong with me.
He called me an easy target.
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.

He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.

Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.

I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?
