POOR SAYLOR! My heart literally broke for her and her situation. To lose the only woman who was like a mother to you, sell her house because of a promised bright future, and then find out your boyfriend not only cheated but is also expecting to be a father and getting married…Well…..that pretty much sucks the juice right out of the lemon.
I literally wanted to punch Pete in the junk over and over again!
Now with no home and no family, Saylor does what every scorned female does….She heads to the nearest bar and decides to drink her problems away. However, she doesn’t get that far when she meets Molly and befriends Molly, the bartender.
Rhett is the hero of this story. Rhett returns home when he gets the news that his grandfather is sick, to take over running the distillery. Rhett and his grandfather used to be close until Rhett decided his time was better spent helping his father in the brewing business and spending less time helping his grandfather. Trust me when I say, Rhett’s Gramps knows how to turn a mean cold shoulder. Rhett has to find a way to fix their crumbled relationship before it is too late.
I really love Rhett and Saylor together. I loved that they gave each other what the other was needing. I loved the friendship Saylor found in two complete strangers (Molly and Jake) especially when she needed someone at that particular moment in her life.
Even though I loved the story, I felt a few scenarios where a little over dramatized and farfetched. I hated Saylor’s friend Tara. My stomach literally turned at how false this friendship felt from the very beginning.
However, the positives outweigh the negatives with Hey, Whiskey by Kaylee Ryan and I do plan on doing a reread in the future and a review update. At this moment though, Hey, Whiskey is a novel that I really liked but sadly, I didn’t love this one.
Peace Love and Happy Reading,
