Ten Books We Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn’t Get To (and totallyyyy plan to get to in 2018!!)

I am freaking excited to share my picks! This post features eleven of my top picks for books I want to read this year that released last year….Let’s get started

Egomaniac

EgoManiac

by: Vi Keeland

A newย standaloneย novel fromย #1ย New York Timesย bestselling author, Vi Keeland.

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office.
I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills.
He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.

Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant.
Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.

Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated.
Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent.
I was swindled out of ten grand.

The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place.
I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind.
I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.

The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages.
The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing.
And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Take Me Back

Take Me Back

by: Meghan March

We fell in love on a beach, got married in paradise, and I carried her off into the sunset. It should have been perfect, but saying โ€œI doโ€ doesnโ€™t guarantee a happily-ever-after.

Two years later, I barely recognize either of us behind the walls weโ€™ve built.

Itโ€™s time to bring it full circle. Back to a tropical paradise. Back to find out if we can still make this work.

Iโ€™m not willing to give her up, but to save us, I have to risk everything.

Two damaged people.

Countless secrets.

The fight of our lives.

We might be broken, but weโ€™re not done.

The Hard Truth About Sunshine

The Truth About Sunshine

by: Sawyer Bennett

New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett has written her most gripping and poignant tale yet. Provocatively heart-breaking, audaciously irreverent and romantically fulfilling, The Hard Truth About Sunshine exposes just how very thin the line is between a full life and an empty existence.

Despite having narrowly escaped death’s clutches, Christopher Barlow is grateful for nothing. His capacity to love has been crushed. He hates everyone and everything, completely unable to see past the gray stain of misery that coats his perception of the world. It’s only after he involuntarily joins a band of depressed misfits who are struggling to overcome their own problems, does Christopher start to re-evaluate his lot in life.

What could they possibly learn from one another? How could they possibly help each other to heal? And the question that Christopher asks himself over and over again… can he learn to love again?

He’s about to find out as he embarks upon a cross country trip with a beautiful woman who is going blind, a boy with terminal cancer, and an abuse victim who can’t decide whether she wants to live or die.

Four people with nothing in common but their destination. They will encounter adventure, thrills, loss and love. And within their travels they will learn the greatest lesson of all.

The hard truth about sunshine…

Warning: This book deals with some tough issues including suicide and sexual abuse.

He taught me to kill. Murder is in my blood now. It runs through my veins and though I hide the monster I see in the mirror with ink, it doesnโ€™t keep him from coming out.

My street name is Mercy, but I never show any. Except for her. I watch Becca, though she doesnโ€™t know. She saved me a long time ago; the day my father killed my mother. Her bravery turned her into a target.

We Own Tonight

We Own Tonight

by: Corinne Michaels

From New York Times Bestseller, Corinne Michaels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE romance novel.

Iโ€™m not a one-night stand kind of woman. Iโ€™m especially not the woman who has a few drinks at a concert and ends up in bed with my childhood celebrity crush, Eli Walsh.

However, thatโ€™s exactly where I find myself.

Whatโ€™s a girl to do after a drunken mistake? Run. I grab my clothes and get away from the powerful, irresistible, and best-sex-of-my-life superstar as fast as I can. His gorgeous green eyes, rock-hard body, and cocky smile have no place in my world. My life is complicated enough.

Someone forgot to tell him that.

Eli is relentless. Pushing his way into my heart, wearing me down, proving heโ€™s nothing like I assumed, and everything I need. But when my world shatters to pieces, he holds the broken bits together. Unwillingly, I fall desperately in love with him.

He made me think weโ€™d have forever . . . I shouldโ€™ve listened when he said we could only own tonight.

Hideaway (Devil's Night, #2)

Hideaway

by: Penelope Douglas

BANKS

Buried in the shadows of the city, thereโ€™s a hotel called The Pope. Ailing, empty, and darkโ€”it sits abandoned and surrounded by a forgotten mystery.

But you think itโ€™s true, donโ€™t you, Kai Mori? The story about the hidden twelfth floor. The mystery of the dark guest who never checked in and never checks out. You think I can help you find that secret hideaway and get to him, donโ€™t you?

You and your friends can try to scare me. You can try to push me. Because even though I struggle to hide everything I feel when you look at meโ€”and have ever since I was a girlโ€”I think maybe what you seek is so much closer than youโ€™ll ever realize.

I will never betray him.

So sit tight.

On Devilโ€™s Night, the hunt will be coming to you.

KAI

You have no idea what I seek, Little One. You donโ€™t know what I had to become to survive three years in prison for a crime I would gladly commit again.

No one can know what Iโ€™ve turned into.

I want that hotel, I want to find him, and I want this over.

I want my life back.

But the more Iโ€™m around you, the more I realize this new me is exactly who I was meant to be.

So come on, kid. Donโ€™t chicken out. My house is on the hill. So many ways in, and good luck finding your way out.

Iโ€™ve seen your hideaway. Time to see mine.

Sick Fux

Sick Fux

by: Tillie Cole

When Ellis Earnshaw and Heathan James met as children, they couldnโ€™t have been more different. Ellis was loud and beautiful โ€“ all blond hair, bright laughs and smiles. Heathan was dark and brooding, and obsessed with watching things die.
The pair forged an unlikely friendship, unique and strange. Until they were ripped apart by the sick cruelty of others, separated for years, both locked in a perpetual hell.
Eleven years later, Heathan is back for his girl. Back from a place from which he thought there was no return. Back to seek revenge on those who wronged them.

Tick Tock.

Spider

Spider

by: Ilsa Madden-Mills

He’s a British rock star.
And my stepbrother.
What can go wrong?

He called himself Spider. I just knew him as the sinfully gorgeous guy with eyes of fire that fate sat next to me on the airplane. I didnโ€™t know who heย reallyย wasโ€ฆrock starโ€ฆmy stepbrother.

He kissed me because he thought weโ€™d never see each other again. We would.

Everyone warned me about him.
They said he was ruthless and cold and screwed up.
They said heโ€™d leave me with a hole in my heart.

Maybe I should have listened.
Maybe I should have built up a fortress to keep him out.
But I crumbled instead.

Some have said there’s an unbreakable thread that connects those who are destined to meet. If thatโ€™s true, then the moment he sat next to me, we were bound together forever.

He just had to figure it out before itโ€™s too lateโ€ฆ

Have you read any of the books I listed?
