Synopsis
They’ve spent their lives pushing each other away, but what will happen when they need each other most?
Anita Martin doesn’t expect much from life. Growing up on the street, bouncing from one foster home to another, she learned to rely only on herself. Even after she finally found a loving family to take her in, she was still an outsider-something Abraham, one of the family’s older sons, never let her forget.
Abraham Evans doesn’t know how Ani always manages to get under his skin, only that’s she’s been doing it since they were teens. She is-and always has been-undeniably gorgeous. But he’s never met anyone as pissed off at the world as Ani.
For fifteen years, Ani and Bram have agreed on exactly one thing: they can’t stand each other-until one night when their anger gives way to passion. Yet even as Ani and Bram begin to secretly seek comfort in one another’s arms, they remain emotionally worlds apart. When Ani’s life takes a dramatic turn and she realizes she needs more than Bram can give, their fragile, no-strings relationship unravels. One way or another, Ani is determined to survive. But when Bram finally admits his true feelings, he may discover Ani has moved on without him . .

My Review:
This review may contain a few tiny spoilers
Wow! everything about Change of Heart drew me in. The angst, the endless banter between the two main characters, and the chemistry these two have is off the charts!
Ani and Bram have been at each others throats since the day the Evans’s decided to foster Ani. It’s not a family event unless those two are going back and forth.
Situations occur that bring Ani and Bram together after Bram leaves the routine family dinner early Ani decides to follow him. He leads her to a bar where she learns his hidden talent. While on stage he catches her eye and sparks immediately fly.
After a very crazy hot scene the two decide to keep what happened to them a secret from the rest of the family but secrets aren’t easily kept when you are part of a close knit family.
Okay let me clue you in so this doesn’t seem incestuous. Bram and Alex are twin brothers who were adopted by the Evans’s at a young age. Many years later the Evans’s bring Ani into the family when she is a teenager. No blood relation what so every.
I loved the constant arguing between Ani and Bram, it made for a slow build up. i also really enjoyed Ani’s sarcastic yet snarky attitude especially when Bram started being a jackass. She rolled with the punches and gave back what he was dishing.
One thing i wish would have been explained more in this novel is Bram and Ani’s childhood backgrounds. The author covered it a little in describing why Bram felt the way her felt and what not. i just wish there was a little more explanation. Same goes with Ani.
Halfway through the novel i was on pins and needles waiting for the ball to drop. Especially when the rest of the family started coming in the picture. With each page i turned i told myself okay now something major is going to happen but i found myself to be wrong every time….UNTIL….i was least expecting it. Yep i started thinking there wasn’t going to be a massive heartbreaking moment in this novel like there was in the last….And then it happened… It’s crazy the emotion i felt through the pages during this particular scene. If you’ve read the novel you know what i’m talking about.
What bums me out the most is i was looking the most forward to ‘his’ story!!! I was so unbelievable pissed but i wouldn’t have changed it from happening because that event that took place made this novel a 5 star read for me.
As for Ani and Bram they were amazing and i loved there story! In Unbreak my Hear i remember being intrigued by Bram’s character. He was definitely not a let down with all of his alpha-male hiding bad-ass self! I loved how he was gentle with Ani when she was upset and crying even though he didn’t want to be. The poor guy never stood a chance especially when you bring an adopted baby into the picture ๐
I recommend Change of Heart to anyone that is looking for an angsty novel!
Peace, Love, and Happy Reading,
