Mia and Austin’s Novella in the Fumbled Futures Series

I picked up the Fumbled Futures Collection specifically for Fourth Down, Mia and Austin’s novella.

I initially started the Fumbled Futures series because I picked up the books in the Boys of Avix series and I heard through several people it is better and more fulfilling to read Fumbled Hearts and Defenseless hearts before diving into this series. There are situations and characters that are talked about throughout the series. And That rings true. I read Say You Swear a few years ago and I do remember coming across character names that weren’t part of the story, but were if that makes sense.

What can I say, I fell hard for these characters and this world.

But once I finished Defenseless Hearts, I knew there was something missing. A big part of a story that hasn’t yet been told. I realized as soon as I picked up Fourth Down, that missing piece was Mia’s story. I was thrilled to see Mia fall in love, and confess her love for the boy she gave her heart to in high school. But, if I’m being completely honest, I wanted more from Mia.

I dropped a star on my rating for Fourth Down because I wished Mia and Austin had a full length novel. I would have loved to dive deeper into these two on an emotional level. There was so much that could have been done with their story. A he loves her but she loves him style trope. Ugh, I can just imagine the tears that would have rolled on a continuous basis. I did enjoy Mia and Austin’s novella, I just wanted more.
