Synopsis:

Miles Thatcher and I would not have gotten together if my life had gone according to plan.

Recently single with her whole life up in the air, Emma Abate knows that getting into any kind of relationship, is a bad idea. Especially when the man she finds herself drawn to is Miles Thatcher, a single father, and a man that seems determined to break down every barricade she places between them.

Could this be real?

Miles doesn’t do complicated. But it’s difficult to remember all the reasons why Emma is supposed to be off limits when she begins to fill a void in his and his daughters’ life, a void that he never realized was there, until her.

Before this ends will Miles and Emma realize they have something worth fighting for? Or will his job as a detective, the murder of two young women, and Emma’s past get the best of them before they ever get the chance?
Life is never simple, and neither is love.

Before This Ends is the second  novel in Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Before Series. This romance can be read as a standalone!

Emma Abate is at the settling down point in her life. She is ready for the husband, the kids, and the white picket fence… the only issue, her boyfriend of four years is not on board with the plans she sees for herself and for him and he never will be on board with marriage. So now, Emma is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Should she settle with the relationship she knows and is comfortable with, forgetting all plans of marriage and children. Or does she end things and go in search for what she really wants for her life…..

Miles Thatcher, single father and a detective with the FBI, doesn’t have time for a relationship. His cases and his seven year old daughter keep him plenty busy. Sure, he makes time every now and then for a random hookup, but his days are spent making sure bad guys are locked up forever…. That is until he sets his eyes on Emma, and he sees more for his future than cleaning up the streets and taking care of his daughter. He sees something that he never thought he’d see…. He sees his happily ever after. Now, it’s time to get a newly single Emma on board with all of the plans he has for them!

My Thoughts:

I’ve had an emotional and somewhat sappy week. The beginning of this novel had me feeling all of the feels in regards to Emma and the life altering choice she had to make. I felt her pain, her turmoil, her guilt, and her fear of making the wrong choice. But I also felt her Joy, her happiness, and her relief when it came to finally digging down deep and realizing what she wants in her life, matters and won’t be ignored. My heart felt so many feelings for this character.

But what I loved most about this novel was Miles and his line of work. I loved everything from the detailed suspense to the mysterious vibes! This man’s job is deadly, and his character personifies the epitome of badass hero! And then you add the single father vibes, and I’m not going to lie, you get the ultimate swoon package. I loved Miles’ character. I loved how fiercely protective he is of the people that mean most to him, and I especially loved how he always showed Emma his heart throughout this novel.

And then we have the spicy time moments! I loved the passion, the sweet vibes, and the chemistry in these moments. These two definitely set a spark to my kindle!

Overall, I really enjoyed Before This Ends by Aurora Rose Reynolds. I always look forward to everything this author publishes, and Before This Ends is another in a long line of novels I’ve loved from her. If I had to be picky about one thing, it would be I wanted more uninterrupted one on one moments between Miles’ little girl and Emma. Emma is the ultimate future step-mama!! I loved those moments the most.
