Synopsis:

In the rodeo arena, all you have to worry about is surviving.
But in the arena of love, things get much more complicated.

Lainie Capshaw has been tending to injured cowboys long enough to know that a charming Western drawl combined with a fine physical form doesn’t mean you should fall for a man. As a sports therapist, she travels the rodeo circuits patching up riders—and fending off their sweet-talking, swaggering advances.

So no one is more surprised than Lainie when she finds herself interested in not one, but two different men on different circuits: Hank Lawson, a bullfighter, and Kyle Gilchrist, a bull rider trying to stage a comeback. She’s more shocked to learn Hank and Kyle are hometown buddies. But when the men offer to share her—in every way—she knows that both of them are going to try to win her, body and soul. And even as their sensual journey becomes the ride of her life, Lainie must choose which cowboy is worthy of her heart….

Corralled by Lorelei James is the first novel in the Blacktop Cowboys Series. I picked up the Blacktop Cowboys series on thriftbooks due to reading her rough riders series and loving what I’ve read. If you all don’t know this about me, I’m obsessed with sexy cowboys/ranchers/rodeo studs. Bring me all the spicy vibes!

Corralled is a novel involving two rodeo hotshots, a bullfighter by the name of Hank Lawson and a bull rider by the name of Kyle Gilchrist. Hank and Kyle have been good friends for a long time, but one person is about to threaten that friendship… Lainie Capshaw

Lainie Capshaw isn’t new to the rodeo lifestyle. After all, this is the sport that sadly took her dads life. Lainie is a sports therapist making her way to make a name of her own in the rodeo circuit. That’s all that is on her mind, until not one, but two cowboys cross her sights. Now, Lainie finds herself in a predicament when she shows up at an event both rodeo stars are participating in. And to make matters worse Hank and Kyle are friends…. She refuses to choose between the two in regards to their friendship, so she walks away… but Hank and Kyle aren’t about to let Lainie go so easily.

My Thoughts:

Lorelei James is the queen when it comes to writing smoking hot and delicious cowboys. I’m a fan of her spicy erotic novels. So be warned, if you aren’t a fan of spicy sexy time scenes with not one, but two cowboys, I highly recommend you move on to the next novel in this series. If you’re also curious, this novel is strictly MFM. There are no MMF or MM scenes in this novel.

I really liked the action of the rodeo that Lorelei James brings to this novel. It took me back to a time when I used to watch the bull riders on the television with my grandmother and grandfather! I loved living vicariously through these characters’ sights. Hank is a slight alpha with a jealous streak. He knows what he wants and he’ll do everything in his power to make sure Lainie is standing by his side at the end of this. Kyle is the more fun loving type. He’s a go with the flow type guy, which I really enjoyed! I loved that Hank was the serious type and Kyle was the free spirit. For a short time, Lainie had the best of both worlds.

My issue with this novel had nothing to do with Hank or Kyle. I loved their point of views. The issue at hand was with Lainie. She was a bit flighty for my taste. And if you are curious, this isn’t a “why choose” novel, there is a choice that Lainie makes at the end. And even though I liked the choice, I thought her chemistry was a bit stronger with the guy she did not choose, if that makes sense. Bottom line is, I think I wanted more from her character. I needed a deeper dive into her thoughts, her emotions, and her background in order for me to really appreciate her character and understand the type of person she is. I wasn’t really a fan of her point of view. I wanted and needed a lot more from her character. And that is the reasoning behind why I gave this novel a 3 star rating.

Overall, this was an okay read for me. I’m so sad because I wanted to love this novel but at the end of the day it was just okay. Hopefully the next book in the series will be much better and I’ll get that character connection that I’ve been craving! Fingers and toes are officially crossed!
