Synopsis:

Tucker Beckett and I likely never would have met if our spouses weren’t having an affair.

Newly divorced with a young son to raise Tucker Beckett is the last man Miranda Owens should be itching to figure out, to make smile, and hear laugh. Still there is something about the detective with haunted blue eyes and a dirty mouth that draws her in from the moment they meet.

If only life were so simple.

As Tucker and Miranda begin to navigate their new relationship, Tucker is tasked with solving the murder of a young woman, while their ex’s begin to play games in an attempt to split the two of them up.

Before they fall, these two will need to figure out if the only thing tying them together is the circumstances that brought them together in the first place or if it’s something more.

Love isn’t complicated but sometimes life is.

Before We Fall by Aurora Rose Reynolds was one of my most anticipated new releases for the month of July! So of course, I had to pick this book up as soon as I could find the time in my reading schedule to read it. Honestly, I thought about skipping this book and reading it in a few months, but after seeing all the hype and reading a few promising reviews, waiting to read this book was out of the equation!

Marriage isn’t easy, in fact, sometimes it’s the hardest act a person will go through in life. When Miranda uncovers her husband’s long time affair, she’s about to reach the point in her story where she’ll take a different path. But first, she has to do what she swore she’d do if infidelity ever entered her marriage… She watched her mother take back her father countless times and that isn’t a life she wants to live.

Tucker had a gut feeling his wife, Naomi, was stepping out on him. He just never expected she’d go after a married man and a father to a three year old. His life revolves around saving people who are in actual danger, he doesn’t have the energy to put up with Naomi’s shit.

One chance meeting between two scorned souls is all fate needs to put things into order and it all starts with Miranda’s husbands work party. Never in a million years would she have ever thought she’d run into the woman who has been sneaking around with her husband, and never did she ever expect to meet said woman’s husband. But here she is, looking into Tucker’s eyes and feeling something she shouldn’t be feeling…

Now, newly divorced, Miranda is focused on giving her son a sense of normalcy. Tucker and Miranda are about to come to the conclusion, there is no fighting fate in this romance.

My Thoughts:

Aurora Rose Reynolds is a master when it comes to writing swoony and protective heroes. I know, everytime I pick up one of her novels, I’m going to end the book feeling so many emotions and that’s exactly where Before We Fall led me. I loved every aspect of this novel; from the healing aspect to the romantic aspect.

Tucker is an FBI agent looking to protect and save the world from one monster at a time. Right now, he is fighting to bring justice to a teenager that didn’t deserve what the monsters delivered her. I loved the moments where Tucker was FBI agent Tucker. I loved seeing him in his element and fighting crime. I loved that his job was a focal point during his point of view. If you thought this man was sexy before, wait until you see him fighting the monsters. So, in this novel we get two sides to Tucker. We get his work persona where he has to be a bit cold and then we get the side Miranda and Kingston bring out of him. This side is softer, more caring, but still as protective as ever. The moments he spent with Kingston had me clutching at my chest wanting to unravel a few more layers from this man. My heart loved the sensitive sides to him just as much as I loved the rough and slightly rogue-ish sides.

Now, Miranda was a different type of warrior. She found herself in a shit position and did everything she could to get her and her child out of it, unscathed. It takes a lot to bite your tongue when natural instinct is telling you to suit up and prepare for battle. My granny always used to tell me, choose your battles and fight your wars. This resonates with Miranda and all she was going through within this novel. If I was put in the same position, I like to think I could be a Miranda…. but knowing me, I’d be as mad as a wet hen. Miranda showed grace and eloquence in these situations. I loved her character even more for that elegance! My heart was invested in her story, but I was also invested in Kingston. This little boy has the power to melt even the coldest hearts. Every moment between Tucker, Miranda, and Kingston had me smiling. Even the moments between Kingston and his dad had me smiling. This little boy melted my heart!

I do have one minor question, did Naomi have something to do with Kingston falling in the bathtub? After that situation occurred, everytime Kingston came into view of Naomi, he would try to hide from her. In all seriousness, my mother bear instincts came out roaring and ready to fight. I understand Miranda was a bit docile when it came to trying to make her three year old’s life as normal as possible. However, I wanted to get to the bottom of how the little one fell and why he showed fear when Naomi was around… And that is why I actually dropped a star rating. I wanted to see a bit of Miranda’s inner mama bear let loose. Another reason why I dropped a star on my rating was the suspense, I had a feeling I knew what was happening before it even came to light. As soon as a certain person was mentioned, I had a gut feeling. So  the suspense aspect was a bit underwhelming to me. I wanted more from this aspect.

Overall, I really enjoyed Before We Fall. I loved the romance and all relationships portrayed in this novel. I didn’t think I would like Tucker, but happily Aurora Rose Reynolds’ had me loving this man even more with each and every page I turned.

If you’re a fan of single mother  romance and a broody fbi agent who will do anything in his power to see this woman knows what love feels like every day, than I highly recommend you run to amazon and 1-click this bad boy!

Alright, I think I rambled on about this novel enough for today.
