Synopsis:
Eight brothers, all waiting for their soul mates, all born with a gift that makes them unique. A gift that comes with a cost … if they use their power outside of their domain.
Coleman Mountain.
Matthew Coleman was born with the gift of fire. It dances at his fingertips. He can melt the strongest of metals, making it pliable in his hands, and scorch the earth if he gets angry enough.
You’d think having this gift, and with his brothers’, no one could threaten them and no problem could be unsolved.
Wrong.
How is he supposed to get his soul mate to fall in love with him when she’s too scared to venture out in a storm? He’s going to have to show Alanna that, with him, she can play in the rain. Because no storm, no matter how mighty, can withstand the power of the sun.

Firewalker is the first book in The Colemans’ Legacy Series by Jamie Begley. This romance revolves around Matthew Coleman and his soon to be leading lady Alanna.
But before we get started on reviewing their story, let me talk a little about this series and all that’s to come! The Coleman family have a long lineage of granted gifts. Everything from Fire Walking to Reading The Stars and Predicting the Future. But with great gifts come great consequences. For starters, if a Coleman uses their granted gift off the mountain, also known as their home, they will have to pay a price.. And we’re not talking dollar signs… If you’re familiar and a fan of Greer Porter due to his special healing gifts, you are in for a treat. I have a feeling this series is going to be a one of a kind, kind of fantastic series!
Now let’s discuss Firewalker and all that went into Matthew and Alanna’s story.
Alanna has found herself in the hot seat, locked up, and behind bars for a crime she did not commit. For someone else, this would be their own living hell. But for Alanna, she finds herself feeling the safest she’s ever felt. But sometimes fate is unrelinquishing and refuses to step aside. When her lawyer, Diamond Bates, shows up to take on her case, Alanna does everything in her power to turn her away. The fear of growing close to people outweighs the lonely life she continues to live. But somehow, she finds she’s doing the opposite. She now has a job working as a housekeeper on the Coleman’s property…. little does she know, this is about to be the safest place she will ever find herself in. After all, no one who relishes their own lives will dare step in and threaten the life of Matthew Coleman’s soulmate.
My Thoughts:
My mind has been blown!! Matthew Coleman stole my breath and Alanna stole my heart!! These two were a match made in heaven!!
I would first like to add a thank you, Jamie Begley moment. Alanna (the heroine of the story) spent her life in and out of foster homes. Her child consisted of moving from family to family. Along the way, she met two other foster kids, Kate and Owen. When she was a small child, Kate treated her as if she were her little sister. But Alanna was soon to discover, it was all a ruse in a sick and twisted game. Alanna suffered so much abuse, mentally, physically, and sexual…. I want to thank Jamie Begley for not detailing the moments of child abuse, as many authors seem to be doing these days. Whether it’s coming from the hands of an adult, or the hands of an older child….my opinion stands, there is no need for those types of details in romance novels. So thank you Jamie Begley!
I have to say, I loved everything about this novel, but I especially loved the slow burn…no pun intended. I loved the fact that Matthew knew damn near his whole life that Alanna was his true soulmate. I also loved the fact that he waited for her in all facets of life. Yes, ladies… it’s true, we have a virgin hero running around! That can’t be said often in romance novel land. I loved this fine treat Jamie Begley added!
My heart fell hard and fast for Alanna and Matthew’s happily ever after… If I could complain about one thing though, it would have to be the ending. I wanted a few scenes that were not shown but slightly discussed, I felt the ending went by way too quick and was a tad bit fast paced considering the rest of the novel carried that slow burn effect. I wanted more from Alanna and Matthew’s happily ever after…. And that is why I had to drop a star rating.
However, I have to throw in one of the things I loved most about this novel and end my review on a positive note. This love factor had nothing to really do with Matthew, and everything to do with Silas Coleman. And that’s a treat you’ll have to read the novel to discover and experience. All I can say, I can’t wait to get my hands on Silas Coleman’s novel! This man has moved hell and high water for his family, the possibilities are endless on what he’ll do to protect his one and only soulmate! I can’t wait!
Overall, I thought Firewalker was a great first look into the Coleman family’s world and legacy! I need more!!!
