Welcome to my first Question of the Day post!
I love the idea of having a question of the day daily post on my blog.
I’m an introvert, and I’ve been trying to rise from my comfort zone and be more open about my life as a blogger, reader, and overall person. This is my way of trying to expand my horizons! So welcome to this new journey I’m on!
Question Of The Day:
What is your Favorite Genre/Sub-Genre To Read?
My Answer:
I started reading romance when I was eight years old. I was addicted to the Baby-sitter’s Club series, strictly due to Mary Anne and Logan’s romance. I can’t help but laugh remembering my dad hunting high and low for the tenth book in the series, Logan Likes Mary Anne. This was way before Amazon, and online ordering. We could not find it in any store, but then one day he had stumbled upon a garage sale and came home with a bag of paperback books, most of them harlequin romances for my mom, and in the bottom of the paper bag, there were three BSC books. Logan Likes Mary Anne happened to be one of them! And from that moment on, I was addicted to romance. I also remember my first ugly cry while reading a YA romance, Til’ Death Do Us Part by: Lurlene McDaniel. This will forever go down in my history as the book I read the most times! I kid you not, I think I read this book two times in one week! There are two books in April Lancaster’s series, maybe one day I’ll read the entirety of her story and review it from adult standards.
And thenย I turned eleven, maybe twelve, and I found myself sneaking books from my mother and grandmother’s book shelves. You couldn’t imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon my first sexy time scene at that young of an age, and given the fact that I had a mind of innocence, you can safely assume it was a crazy ride and an eye opener for me. I don’t remember the title of the book, I just remember a man embracing a woman on a ship, and I’m pretty sure it was a pirate romance. So that is when my love for romance novels started and to this day, it is still my number one genre.ย
Now romance is my number one reading genre. However, there are so many sub-genres within the romance genre, and tropes within those subgenres…. it can get a bit confusing to explain. But whatever you like reading, I can almost guarantee you’ll find it in romance. I find I read mostly New Adult/College, Contemporary, Dark, and Sport subgenres in romance. Those four are my favorites and ones I prefer. However, I’m not scared to cross my comfort zone line in reading. If you want to go deeper into the midst of it all, I’m a lover of Fighter (Boxing, MMA, Illegal Underground Fighting Ring) romances, Motorcycle Club Romance (We can all thank Kurt Sutter and Sons of Anarchy for this obsession), and Rockstar Romances! I also love Ugly Cry Romances (The ones that break your heart over and over again, before putting it back together again).
It just goes to show, there are hundreds, maybe even thousands, of different varieties of romance novels. You just have to dive in the deep end to find the titles and authors you claim as gems!

Love this post! Romance and pretty much all of its subgenres for the win.
Yes! I love how versatile the romance genre is!
Romance! And, if I have to choose a sub genre, romantic suspense.
Ohh! I love romantic suspense novels. But I find I’m picky on who writes them.
