Twisted Kingdom is book three of Royal Elite Series and should be read after Deviant King & Steel Princess. This is a dark, mature new adult romance and contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive.
This book is the final part of a trilogy and is NOT standalone. The entire trilogy is available.

Twisted Kingdom by Rina Kent is the third book in the Royal Elite Series, but it’s the last book in Aiden and Elsa’s trilogy! This one is also told from different points of view. Of course we get a glimpse into both Elsa and Aiden’s thoughts, once again, this time around. But there’s a few more POV’s that came as a surprise to me. So be on the lookout for those to pop up while reading. 

Aiden has lost Elsa for the final time. He swears this time when he has her, he won’t let her run away from him again. But he’s about to realize, he needs to up his game of chess if he’s going to win her back. Exposed secrets aren’t so easy to forget or forgive.

Elsa is closer to finding out what happened on that fateful night when she was seven years old. And now that a ghost from her past is back in the picture, her dreams are becoming even more realistic, leading her towards what she’s hidden all those years ago.

My thoughts:

I’m extremely sad to see Aiden and Elsa’s romance come to an end… but I’m thrilled to find them living out their happily ever after… finally! So for those readers who only read romances with a happily ever after, don’t worry Rina Kent didn’t let us down!

My heart went through the emotional Wringer! Twisted Kingdom was everything I expected it to be, plus so much more! I couldn’t put this one down. From Elsa’s flashbacks and memories creeping up. To Aiden’s possessiveness being bumped up a couple of notches due to his own little secrets being exposed. Everything was on angst overload! My emotions were everywhere! This was a perfect ending to Aiden and Elsa’s romance.

Let’s talk about Aiden for a minute. I loved watching this man grow to very slightly become the man Elsa needed. Don’t get me wrong, he was still his over-protective, over-possessive, and over-obsessed anti-hero that I’ve grown to love in this trilogy, but I also loved the softer glimpses we were given in this novel. And that epiloge had me falling even more for this man. Don’t get me wrong, I loved his alpha side. But his soft side was a nice change.

Now onto Elsa. Elsa’s memories is what this novel basically revolves around. I can’t lie, I cried a river of tears when her memories were exposed. Did I see it coming? This one situation I did see coming. But the emotions portrayed throughout that moment in time hit me in the heartstrings. My heart broke for the seven year old Elsa… And that’s all I’m going to say about that situation.

I loved every moment of this story, however the reasoning behind why I dropped a ½ star, without giving away a spoiler, let me say this as anti-detailed as I possibly can. I wanted more one-on-one time with a couple characters in this novel….

Overall, I’m still overwhelmed by the ending to Elsa and Aiden’s trilogy. I’m sad to see their chapter come to a close, but I’m excited to get an insight into Xander Knight, Ronan Astor, and Cole Nash’s stories and watch these men lose their hearts! EEK! I can’t wait!
