I’m in need of something on the second chance/swoony/small town side of the spectrum. I’m getting ready to dive into a book that has been on my reading list since It first released. It’s Not Over by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black looks like a novel with a touch of angst and an epic happily ever after. And after reading what I just read, I sure could use a happily ever after right about now….

I just finished Blood Lust by Erin Trejo… or should I say I just finished the first half of Blood Lust. This book falls under the DNF category for me… I’m all for Dark Romances and trying to make the genre your own… but this novel wasn’t a romance, in my opinion. It was a bloodshed mess with some seriously heavy triggers. I honestly wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone because of the content and themes. I wish authors would stop with rape in romance. WHY!? There is no need for it. UGH! I had high hopes for this anthological MC series, I’ll read the second *recommended* book in the series to see if this one was a fluke, but as of right now, I’m not getting my hopes up. As I said before, I’m all for dark romance and the grittier the better…. but this one was disturbing on all counts. There was no way in Hades this *Hero* would have been able to redeem himself, in my eyes, so I DNF’d this one….. I’m not easily triggered with novels… in fact, I’ve been known to say the grittier the better… Blood Lust is gritty and dark, but it’s also disturbing and unsettling. I hated the Hero and I hated the eventual Heroine. I hated the premise and I hated how the author tried to sugar coat all the rapes in this novel by given the hero a tragic backstory…. THERE IS NEVER AN EXCUSE!!!! And that’s all I’m going to say about this novel from here on out!

Depending on my feelings for It’s Not Over by Kaylee Ryan and Lacey Black, I may be diving into the rest of the Fair Lakes series! Hopefully by next week you all will see an epic series review! Next up I’ll be reading Just Getting Started, the second book in the Fair Lakes series!

Really curious to find out how you end up liking It’s Not Really Over.
I am with you on the rape thing. There’s one series I love, but I feel like every book has a rape in it — not between the MCs but I still would rather not have that in it. I would DNF this one too.
