You know how in college there’s that one guy everyone wants to be?
That’s me.
I’m the top dog.
The number one.
The big man on campus.
Some say those things are solid wins.
My new tutor would disagree.
My title means nothing to her.
My status lost on her.
And now my mind? That sucker is stuck on her.
She was told to make our sessions priority over all, to drop everything when I need her, and come to me. She does.
But I don’t want to steal her time anymore.
I want to earn it.
If anyone can do that, it’s me.
I’m Tobias Cruz, the king of the curveball. I don’t lose.
Not the game, and surely not the girl.
Little did I know, this girl has herself a secret … and it’s the dirtiest curve yet.
Holy Crows Feet!! It isn’t often when an author has the ability to pull the wool over my eyes. And if being honest, Meagan Brandy did just that. Half way through and here I sit with a cocky smile thinking I had the ending played out in my mind and flawlessly predicted.. Well, don’t I look like a fool…
Dirty Curve is a baseball new adult romance told from both Tobias’ and Meyer’s point of view. If you love baseball romances with cocky superstars, definitely check this one out. I have a feeling you’ll fall head over boots in lust with Tobias Cruz. Me, however, it was a touch and go process. My love for his character started off rocky. I liked him and I had a feeling he was showing the world his facade and not his real character. But I couldn’t get past his character. He came off a little too egocentric which pushed him more into the spoiled rotten category. I’m not down for that. However, I did start to really like his character around the 40% mark. The more he opened up and showed Meyer his true self, the more I started to connect with his character.
Meyer has a rough road ahead of her. She’s a single mother looking to build a better life for her and her baby girl. She’s sick of living under other people’s thumb and she dreams about a day when she can finally spread her wings and fly from this nightmarish hell that’s been forced upon her. It seems this is an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed Meyer’s character. This woman has the weight of the world on her shoulders. She’s not only a single mother of a month old baby, she’s also excelling in all of her classes, and working as a tutor for the athletic department along with working a late night diner shift. Talk about spreading yourself too thin. This woman does it all without any complaint. She does everything she has to do to see her daughter’s needs are meant. I find that to be an honorable trait in a character.
Now the reasoning behind why I rated this a four star rating should come as no surprise.
I dropped a half star because I didn’t really like Tobias at first. Usually this is the opposite with a ‘reformed bad boy’ type of trope. But something about this character rubbed me the wrong way. I honestly can’t put my finger on why, but something inside of me wouldn’t allow myself to like him until he got his stuff together. And I can promise you, at the first sight of him opening up and being himself, my heart started taking off.
The other half of that star was dropped due to the ending. When the *suspenseful secret* was exposed, it shocked me. Hell, I’m still sitting here scratching my head over that news. But the more I think about it, the more I wish I was given a deeper dive into the situation. I wish there was more background with Meyer’s situation. I never thought it would be this hard to write a review without spoilers… But there you have it, I wanted inside Meyer’s head before Tobias stepped on the screen.
Overall, Dirty Curve was an entertaining read! I found myself being dragged in and totally consumed with Meyer and Tobias’ story. Just be warned, there is a LOT of drama with this one towards the end. But the happily ever after did wonders to nip that one in the bud!

You enjoyed this one more than I did, I think. I was surprised by the twist as well. Tobias definitely grew on me, but that rough start… Yuck. Great review!
