All I wanted was a baby. No daddy? No problem.

That’s what anonymous donors are for …

But when the fertility clinic accidentally sends me a letter addressed to a man whose ID matches my paperwork, I discover my child’s father is none other than world-renowned tennis champion Fabian Catalano—famous for his gorgeous face, chiseled abs, and broody, wildcard reputation.

Only everything changes when the clinic calls us in for damage control—and Fabian drops the bombshell of the century. Turns out the intense Adonis wants to get to know his daughter.

So I invite him to stay with us—temporarily.

Ground rules and all.

And our arrangement is simple … until it isn’t.

Between 2 AM feedings and stolen kisses, my sweet little simple life has taken a very complicated left turn.

But oh, baby. What happens next—is a game changer.

My Review

The Match is the second book I have read by Winter Renshaw, let’s just say, this author has a way of making her readers come back for more! I’m even more intrigued by her writing and story telling style!

In My Own Words:

The Match is a story about Intrauterine insemination (IUI). After a years of putting her life on the back burner, Rossi finally decides to go for what she wants… and she wants a baby. After months of endlessly searching for the right donor. She finally finds one who fits exactly what she’s looking for. It couldn’t be any more of a perfect fit.

Many months later, Rossi is happy with her baby girl living the best life a single mother could possibly be living, when something unexpected happens. She gets a letter in the mail stating that all of her samples have been destroyed, only the letter wasn’t hers to read. The letter belongs to, none other than her very own donor. Who also happens to be the world’s top tennis player…

Oh how I love a dramatic tale!!!

My Thoughts:

I’ve had The Match by Winter Renshaw on my tbr for a few months now. After reading Whiskey Moon, I decided I needed to read more from this author so I picked this book up. I couldn’t help but laugh while reading the synopsis. My first thought was, that’s some serious bad luck. And then I couldn’t help but think about all the drama a trope such as this one could entail! And believe me when I say, I’ve been in the mood for some serious novel reading drama! I loved Rossi and Fabian! And here are all the reason’s why!

First off, I’m a sucker for a pridefully independent single mother in romance novels. Usually the male protagonist has to actually work to gain the affections of said single mother. And I love seeing a man sweat it out a little before finally getting the one thing in the world he wants most. But what intrigued me the most about Rossi and Fabian, these two didn’t jump at each other right away. They were acquaintances who shared a daughter through Intrauterine insemination (IUI). They were just two strangers put in a really shitty situation. But that situation had fate’s intervention written all over it.

You see, Rossi had been burned in her previous relationship/marriage. So for the past few years she did nothing but work and build her business. And then she found what was missing in her life and she went for what she wanted. Slowly throughout this novel, we see a calm cool collected version of Rossi. We see a woman with a chill vibe and a goal to be the best mother for her daughter, Lucia. But then Fabian steps on the pages of the story and completely throws a wrench into every single plan Rossi had for her and her daughter.

Now Fabian is the total opposite of Rossi. Fabian, multi-millionaire hot headed pro tennis athlete wants for nothing and has the world at his fingertips. Or that’s the way the world sees him as. When he finds out his name was outed to the recipient, his fear is evident. He’s lived his professional life realizing people are fake and conniving. But once he sets eyes on the baby he had a hand in making, this overwhelming to protect not only Lucia, but also her mother completely consumes him and confuses him all at once. Everything he thought he wanted isn’t the case. Now he has his sights set on something a little more domestic. He was never a baby person, until he set his eyes on his daughter for the first time. Now he can’t imagine his life without Rossi and Lucia. And that is the exact reasoning why I loved this book!! I love and underdog, reformed hot head story! I love when a man has to face his own vulnerabilities. In these moments I felt the most connected to Fabian and Rossi’s characters. I felt their chemistry and their willingness to push all of their past demons to the side and try for the first time in a long time.

I felt a little obsessive over Rossi and Fabian’s relationship, what can I say but I loved them so much. Everything from Fabian’s first encounter with his daughter to the fear Rossi had to overcome when it came to Fabian wanting a relationship with Lucia. The drama was real! That’s for sure.

And then the last portion of the novel came, and this is where I had to drop a star from what was initially going to be a five star read. I felt things were rushed. I wanted present detail instead of details from Fabian’s memory. I didn’t want a play by play, I wanted to live in those moments. I needed more emotion towards the ending…

Overall and aside from the one downfall, I enjoyed Rossi, Fabian, and Lucia’s story. I loved the emotion, both joyful and Sad. I loved watching the interactions between Lucia, Fabian, and Rossi. And overall, I loved the protective vibes I saw within Fabian those first few minutes after meeting his daughter. I just wish we were given a tad bit more towards the end. I wanted more of them and less drama with his ex.
