Blurb:

I came back to Mason Creek when my life was turned upside down, both literally and figuratively. Scared and alone, I packed my belongings and left New York where I’ve made a career as a writer for a national publication to stay with my parents in the town so different than the big apple they might as well be on different planets.

Getting to see my friends was a big plus, but meeting someone new never crossed my mind until a ruggedly handsome man in jeans and a worn baseball cap came over to say hello. Not knowing someone in this small town is like not knowing how to breathe. The slightly older man caught my eye, just as much as I caught his. A witty and roguish personality kept me on my toes, even if falling for someone new is the last thing I need.

Neither of us wants a relationship, yet we keep finding each other in this small town. Rumors fly, hearts connect, and there’s more at stake than either of us are willing to share.

This man has secrets everyone wants to know, but when more than he’s willing to share is revealed I hope I’m strong enough to help him. I may have come back to town to save myself, but saving him might be the real reason I’m here.

My Review

Perfect Song by Lauren Runow is the second book in the Mason Creek Series. If you haven’t heard of the Mason Creek series, it’s a series of small town standalone romances taking place in one town. Each story is written by a different author and I have to say, this intrigues the hell out of me. I love discovering new authors and this is the perfect way to find them. In a series you can’t help but to fall in love with.

Lauren Runow is a new-to-me author and I was blown away and holy hell, I loved Tucker and Justine’s small town age gap romance! I say time and time again, the age gap romance trope is either a hit or a miss for me, there is rarely an in-between situation when I think it’s just okay. When I first read the blurb and a few reviews, I’m not ashamed to admit, I was nervous with diving into this romance. I’m thrilled to have taken the chance on Tucker and Justine. These two are my new favorite couple in this series! I loved the instant connection that flowed between the two characters.

Justine has just arrived back to her hometown of Mason Creek, Montana with a bruised ego, a broken heart, and a heavy amount of fear. This woman has been through one of the scariest moments of her life and her mama and daddy want her home where she’s safe and sound. Justine has a lot to resolve in her life, the main thing being her trust in people. When she spots the sexy stranger at Pony Up. Her heart tells her to go for it, but her head tells her to slow down.

Tucker is in the prime of his life. He’s living his life playing old country music at night and fixing cars during the day. With his son on the cusp of graduating high school and maybe having a career in baseball, Tucker has no time for romance and/or settling down. That is his thoughts… until he spots Justine at Pony Up. He instantly knows this woman has the power to crumble his world all around him. And he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Okay, so I loved the fact that Tucker and Justine start off as friends with a high attraction. I loved the slow getting to know you vibes they went through before anything else took place. These two set a foundation for a love and a relationship that could very well last forever. Between all that and then add the fact that this man drop dead sexy and he has the swoon to back all that sexiness up… It’s not very hard to imagine, I was a goner. This man had me GONE in only the best of ways.

I also loved how mature Justine was for twenty-nine years old. She was ready for the seriousness that comes along with getting into a relationship with Tucker. She was ready for all the ups and downs. She was ready for a relationship without the sully dramatics. These two are ride or die. They were written in the stars. Gah!! I can’t get over how sweet and sexy Tucker and Justine’s romance was. For damn near the whole story I had a smile on my face…

Which leaves me to why I dropped a star and rated this one four stars.
I loved the relationship aspect, and I loved the fact that Tucker and Justine took the time to get to know one another before diving into the unknown. I’m feeling a tiny bit selfish, there was more I wanted from this novel. I wanted more of Tucker and his son, Matthew. I wanted more moments of their bonding. I wanted to see Tucker in his fatherly element. I also wanted that significant bonding moment between Tucker, Justine, and Matthew. Like I said, I’m a bit selfish with this one because I also wanted more an insight when Tucker found out…..the news he found out….. I wanted a deeper connection to that situation.

Overall, This is the second book in the Mason Creek Series and so far Tucker and Justine are my favorite couple! Lauren Runow’s writing style had me turning the pages faster than even I could imagine. I loved the age gap aspect. I also found this relationship to be admirable. To put it simple, I couldn’t get enough! I highly recommend this one to those looking for an epic small town romance with all the feels.
