River Tate is a god on campus.
The king of football.
A tattooed bad boy with gunmetal eyes that see right through you.
The only chink in his armor is her, the girl he pretends doesn’t exist, the forbidden one with the shy smile and lavender hair.
Anastasia Bailey is a nobody.
The queen of nothing.
An outsider with the face of an angel and a body made for sin.
The only chink in her armor is him, her boyfriend’s frat brother, the football player who hates her.
But when Anastasia’s life comes crashing down, River’s the one who sweeps in and picks up the pieces.
Torn between loyalty, lies, and secrets, he battles the temptation to take everything from her when they make their revenge pact.
He can’t tell her no.
Because revenge (or love) is, sweet, and once you get a taste, the craving never ends.

I am BEYOND excited for this new series! What’s better than three outstanding authors each writing a book in a series? Absolutely nothing!!!
In My Own Words:
The Revenge Pact by Ilsa Madden-Mills is the first book in the Kings of Football series. This novel revolves around a college football superstar, River Tate. And the women he wants, but can never have, Anastasia Bailey.
River saw Anastasia first, and he felt a connection with her first, but before he had the chance his best friend/frat brother called dibs first. All bets were off the table, this man lives his life by the code. You don’t go after a girl your friend is interested….. But what if the friend messes up time after time again….. Is it okay to go in for the swoop then?
After Anastasia is humiliated by the man who is supposed to love her most, she decides to partake in a Revenge Pact of sorts…. And who better to carry on this pact with than her ex-boyfriends best friend….
My Thoughts:
I’ve been a fan of Ilsa Madden-Mills for a year or so now. She not only adds loads of passion to her novels, but she’s also a kick ass story teller. There comes a time in every readers life when they find a novel by an author they love that is just okay… I liked River and Anastasia’s story, but I wasn’t head over heels in love with it. It’s just what it is. And this goes to prove I’m not going to love everything an author puts out there in the world, even if I highly respect and have literary love for the author.
Starting with the positives….. RIVER….. This man is everything I picture when I think about a book boyfriend. His swoony and flawed in the most fabulous of ways. Everything about him was delectable. This man had EVERYTHING thrown at him in this novel. He not only lost out on his chance at entering the NFL due to a horrible season, he also finds his grades plummeting due to his learning disorder… Not only is his future up in the air, so is his mother’s future and her illness… See what I mean when I say he has had EVERYTHING thrown at him…..
And with the positive comes a little bit of negative, I rated The Revenge Pact a 3.5 star rating… In all honesty, given the title, I was expecting a bit more revenge of sorts throughout the whole novel. I wanted more revenge vibes and I wanted to feel that shit bone deep. Sadly, it just didn’t do it for me. Given the title and the first half of the novel I expected to shed many tears in the second half and those tears never came. I needed more.

I liked this book, but I got bogged down in the middle. It lost its luster for me. I wish it hadn’t. I still enjoyed it, but it was the weakest of the series.
I agree 100%. It was good, but not the best.
