My Thoughts:
Prescott Lane is another new to me author, and holy hell, where have I been hiding.
You all know Secret pregnancies/babies, is one of my greatest ‘reading’ weaknesses. I want all the angst, all the drama, and all the feels. And Prescott Lane delivered!!! I’ll definitely be keeping this author on my radar in the near future.
I love music in every form, whether it’s listening to my favorite artists, or reading about jaded fictional artists finding love for the first (or second) time. I want it and I need it immediately. It’s of my greatest reading weaknesses….
Kailey and Ryder meet at a music festival. I love the fact that Kailey isn’t a super fan of Ryder’s. In fact, when Kailey first meets Ryder, she has no clue he’s the leading male on the country hot charts, nor does she know the entire world fights for his attention. This made the connection and the chemistry between the two feel pure and real.
I loved Kailey and her ability to step in and do what was right. She told Ryder about the baby and gave him, as a father, a choice. Instead of hiding the growing bump, she embraced it and embraced her upcoming motherhood.
Now Ryder, on the other hand, this man puts the world alpha in alpha-male. I loved his reaction and his sudden need to protect his baby and Kailey from the start. There was never a moment when he accused the baby not being his, there was never a moment when he didn’t want his future. But through all that, his demons still found their way through the surface and still haunted him. When I found out what his demons actually entailed….. Holy shit, I can’t even count the amount of tears that were shed during those moments. This man had his heart ripped out of his chest and stomped on at a young age. He became jaded and closed his heart off from love.
Now I’m not about to give away spoilers….. But holy hell, I did NOT see that coming. There is one singular moment, we as readers, remember an author for and that moment will always come to mind when I think about Prescott Lane….. How could you do that to me. There was so much hope, so much joy, and so much….. Until a lack of communication came into play…. Then all hell broke loose…. And my heart plummeted into my stomach. Ryder’s reaction broke my freaking soul!! BROKE MY SOUL! Usually I can easily see something like that coming up, but Lane through a wrench in that equation. It was unexpected, unpredictable, and downright cruel… but the angst and all the feels made it worth it in the end.
Do I recommend this novel?
HELL YES! If you love sob worthy novels with all the feels and drama, definitely pick this one up. Country musician, One night stand resulting in a pregnancy, and all the tears and all the feels made this book a top read for me. I couldn’t get enough!
