2020 | July Wrap Up

July has officially come and gone
In July, I found myself reading nine books….
All I can say is, it’s been a long year…

so let’s get into the books I read in July.

The first book I finished in July was Southern Sunrise by Natasha Madison. This is Ethan and Emily’s angst-ridden, second chance romance. I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and this second chance made me swoon. I loved Ethan as a young boy, and now, I love him even more as a man. He’s strong willed and isn’t afraid to admit when he is in the wrong. He’s fiercely protective and has a heart of gold hidden behind a traumatic past. What more could a reader ask for! As for Emily, I liked her character, but sadly, that like didn’t morph into love. You can check out my full review here!

Dismount by Lucia Franco was everything I hoped for in a Kova and Adrianna conclusion. There was heat, passion, angst, and tears. There was heartbreak and there was tremendous joy. I can’t say this enough, when it comes to the romances I read… I LOVE DRAMA and Lucia Franco handed that drama over on a silver platter. This series tested every single boundary I have with reading material. This series made me so angry at times I felt like throwing my kindle across the room. So beware if you decide to pick this series up, and buckle up, it’s a crazy ride.

Complicate Me is the first book in Claire Raye’s Hawthorne Hills duet. This novel is based around a love/hate relationship between Reid Bowen and Sienna Parker. Again with the drama!!! Claire Raye is proving to be a fantastic author. She’s an author who hooks her readers from the very start. I loved the endless lust fueled banter between Reid and Sienna!! It added to some great dramatic moments resulting in a brutal cliffhanger. I seriously need to get my butt in gear and pick up the conclusion to this duet…

What I Read:

Reckless Suit by Alexia Chase is explosive! I couldn’t get enough of Chloe and Damon’s romance! Everything I love about a romance lies within the pages of this story. I’m such a sap when it comes to single father romances and I’ve been really getting into age-gap romances, as of lately. I can’t help but enjoy the drama that usually comes along with these two tropes. Trust me when I say, there is a fair share of drama that follows Damon and Chloe’s romance. It’s simply beautiful, that’s the only way I can put it. I feel in love with the love these two characters share. My heart wouldn’t slow down for the whole duration of this novel. I couldn’t get enough.

Beautiful Criminal by M.N. Forgy was another novel I found myself having a hard time putting down this month. I needed to devour all the words… Immediately. Kieran and Leona’s romance has bittersweet writing all over it. In the end I had a deep gut feeling something was brewing and whether or not it was going to be catastrophic was completely out of my hands. This series is going to get crazy….. I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

Keeping You Away by Kennedy Fox is the first novel in Tyler and Gemma’s duet. If you love the slow build romances with a second chance twist and sexual tension by the truck full, you are in for a treat!  I do have to say, this one was a tad bit predictable, but the slow burn did it for me. I loved every tense moment between Tyler and Gemma! These two are going to get an epic love story, that goes without saying.

Filthy Forward by Kelsey Cheyenne is one of the many great novels coming from the Cocky Hero Club! I’m finding these novels to be very addicting! I need them all! I adored Tatum and Bria’s romance. I loved the endless banter, the thrive to be the best, and the relationship between Tatum and Bria. I loved the slow buildup that resulted in an explosion of lust. I’m also fairly new to the athlete/coach romance trope, but I do have to say, the way Kelsey Cheyenne mapped this romance out is definitely the way to go when working with this type of trope! Simpy amazing and one of my favorites to come from the Cocky Hero Club.

Until Talon by Aurora Rose Reynolds releases on August 4th!!! Ah, what would we all do without the famous BOOM in our lives!? Until Talon has redefined the spinoff Until her/him series. Talon will go down in history as being the swooniest ‘MF’ of them all!!! It goes to show, I couldn’t put this book down. I devoured all the words from start to finish. I think I found myself a new favorite Mayson!!!

And lastly, I finished Love & Hockey by Monty Jay. This is an angst-ridden, coming of age romance with an age gap twist. Bishop Maverick and Valor Sullivan’s story is definitely a wild ride full of incredible highs and devastating lows. These two are a match made in heaven, that’s for damn sure. Love & Hockey also happens to be Monty Jay’s debut novel. I’m impressed and I can’t wait to continue with the Fury series!! I need more!
