Synopsis:

secret babycinnamon roll heroforced proximitysmall town romance from NY Times Bestselling author Lorelei James.

This sweet-talking cowboy is about to get the surprise of his life.

Skylar Ellison never intended to get tangled up with a sexy Wyoming cowboy—let alone conceive a baby with him. When it appears her baby’s daddy has taken off for greener pastures, Skylar deals with it as she does everything else: alone.

Rancher Kade McKay is knocked sideways when he returns home after a year and learns he’s the father of a three-month-old baby girl. When Skylar refuses to marry him, Kade grits his teeth, moves in and plays house by her rules.

Despite Skylar’s insistence they are to remain strictly co-parents, their passion flares hotter than before. Kade knows what Skylar needs to bridge the gap between lust and love and he demands her total physical surrender. While Skylar willingly submits her body to the hot-blooded cowboy, she’s still hesitant to give him her heart.

Can Kade convince Skylar he’s playing for keeps? Or will her fear keep them from becoming the family she’s secretly dreamed of?

I had such high hopes for Tied Up, Tied Down by Lorelei James! My hopes were high due to my absolute favorite trope being represented in this novel. That trope being a secret baby romance! The main reason why I love this trope so much is because it brings a level of angst and fragility to the characters. It seriously bums me out to say, this one was just okay. I wasn’t jumping on the edge of my seat and cursing out the characters like I had hoped to be doing.

I absolutely adored Kade McKay and his willingness to step up and be a father to the three month old baby girl he knew nothing about. I loved the moments he spent with his daughter and I loved watching how easily he was wrapped around her finger. Basically, everything that had anything to do with Kade in this novel, I loved!

My main issue was the connection between Kade and Skylar.

Kade and Skylar started a relationship on false pretense. She mistook him for his twin brother in a previous novel and dated him for a few months, Kade started to fall for skylar in those few months and never told her he wasn’t who she thought he was. But one fateful night, the truth came out and Skylar left. She didn’t return his phone calls and the only time she tracked him down to tell him she was pregnant, he wasn’t around.

I expected to dive into this novel and get wrapped up in a whirlwind of angst, high emotions, and wonderful chemistry between these two characters. But sadly, I felt Skylar was a bit to wishy washy. She didn’t interact with his family unless they talked to her first. She didn’t put herself out there until the very end. She fell flat compared to the other leading ladies in the Rough Riders series. I didn’t really care for her all that much. Kade and Baby Eliza were the ringleaders of this story! What’s sexier than a cowboy holding and fawning over his little girl….. absolutely nothing!
