2020 Reading Goals & Challenges

It’s 2020 and with a new year comes new challenges and new reading goals. This year I decided to challenge myself to the best of my capability. My excited to start these upcoming challenges and goals.

Challenges:

1. Complete 2 author’s entire publication list.

Last year I decided to read an author’s entire publication list and I had so much fun in doing so. So this year instead of finishing one authors back list, I decided I’m going to challenge myself by trying to finish two authors backlists! I’m still going through all the author’s I want to read. My goal is to find a fairly new to me author and get to binging! A post will be going up shortly with the author’s and their books I plan on reading.

2. Read 3 new to me authors each month.

A few years ago I started this little challenge for myself as a way to get out of my habit of reading my favorite authors and  my mind a little bit by exploring new authors. In doing so I’ve come across some great new to me authors who have actually made their way into my top favorites list.

3. Read 5 books outside of my reading genre in 2020.

I want to widen my horizons where books and reading are concerned. Another challenge for 2020 is to read 5 books that sit outside of my comfort zone and typical genre. Whether it be Stephen King or something with a fantasy twist, I want to read it. If you have any books that aren’t romance you recommend, leave them in the comments below!

4. Read 3-5 Paperbacks each month.

Another challenge that is carrying over from last year, but unlike last year I tend to follow this one. My wish is to read half of my unread paperbacks by the end of 2020. We will see how I succeed with this challenge.

5. Goodreads reading challenge.

And of course, last but not least is my goodreads reading challenge. I plan on reading 200 books by the end of 2020.

Goals:

1. Finish Outlander by Diane Gabaldon

Every year for the past two years this has been my number one goal. This year I’m going to accomplish this goal!

2. Stay above 80% on Netgalley

I’ve been doing pretty good with this goal for the past year and a half. So throughout 2020 I plan on keeping this frame of mind and continue to stay above 80%. That means I need to control my clicking finger and only request books I plan on reading right away. Easier said than done.

3. Post more frequently on Social Media.

I found in the past several months I’ve been falling behind where social media is concerned. My goal for this year is to post daily on Facebook, Twitter, and Bookstagram. Right now I’m drastically falling behind on this challenge…… It’s only the sixth day of the month so I’ll be better.

4. Be more social with my blog and on the blogs I follow.

And the last goal of the year is to be more social with my blog and on the blogs I follow. I’m trying to be less of an introvert where my blog is concerned. I read posts on a daily basis, so when I find a blog to be interesting instead of thinking my thoughts and passing it by, I’m going to leave a comment.

Now I’m curious, do you set reading specific challenges and goals for yourself? If so, what type of challenges?
