“Girls like you aren’t exactly welcomed at a place like this, so keep your head down and look the other way.”

Those were the exact words of my social worker when she dropped me in my newest hellhole, a place for “troubled teens”.

I didn’t listen, and now I’m on their radar.

They expect me to play along in their games of hierarchy, to fall in line in the social order they’ve deemed me fit.

Too bad for them, I don’t follow rules.
Too bad for me, they’re determined to make sure I do.

Inconceivably attractive and treated like kings…these are the boys of Brayshaw High.

And I’m the girl who got in their way.

Boys Of Brayshaw High is the first book in the Brayshaw series by Meagan Brandy. After seeing so many amazing thoughts on this book and seeing all the beautiful bookstagram pics that populated my feed, I decided to jump and buy this bad boy. Another plus is the beautiful cover, I love covers with different concepts and the colors definitely had a helping hand in deciding to this one.

In My Own Words:

Raven Carver is a complete misfit and she’s got the whore of a mother to prove it. Although she’s granted warning after warning, the last fight against the principal’s niece is the final straw. Now Rae’s feature is looking more bleak than before. She’s being sent to an all girls home. But there’s no trouble and worry in her mind. She’s used to less than the stability she craves. You can only run for so long before trouble finally catches up to you.

Her trouble comes in the form of three defined and tough as all hell men known as The Brayshaw Boys. They rule the school and own everything around them with the help of vial threats and fists in faces. You cross the Brayshaw boys and you cross the whole damn town. But Raven doesn’t give a shit when it comes to crossing these boys, she’s her own person and she’s not about to let the Brayshaw’s take away the only thing she holds on to with a death grip, her respect. She’ll plow through anyone and everything that dares to stand in her way, including the three boys from the wrong side of the tracks.

My Thoughts:

Let’s start off with a little bit of honesty. It’s hard in the romance world, where thousands of books are getting published everyday, to be different. Everyone, although sometimes unintentional, are following these trends. It’s basic knowledge, trends are everywhere from the clothing we were, to the movies we watch. There seems to be no such thing as originality anymore. So for us bloggers and readers, we are forced to look inside the story, forget about trends and search for that little piece of heaven that makes a book unique.

This is the first book I have read written by author Meagan Brandy, She managed to draw me in from the first page and keep my attention through the last. She has an addicting way with words and provoking a fierceness from her readers. I was on the edge of my seat right along with Raven, itching for a fight, especially when it came to Maddoc, Captain, and Royce. I instantly loved to hate these three boys. From the moment they stepped foot into the pages of my book, I knew they were going to be trouble. But I also knew they were about to meet the person who wouldn’t deal with their shit and I couldn’t wait to watch their asses get knocked down a peg. It was a battle of the badasses. Only the most extreme survive.

I really enjoyed the story line, give or take a few scenarios. I thought Rae was just as fierce as she was dangerous. She is gorgeous and she knows how to use her sexuality as a weapon. I really enjoyed her character. As for the boys, they were your typical hot AF high school romance book boys. One is the protector, one is the funny asshole, and one is the caregiver, but all three are dangerous, possessive, and complete assholes by nature. Put the four of them together and they make up a lethal combination when their backs are against the wall. Which may be the reason why everyone seems to be trying to split this little foursome up. If you all follow my reviews you should know by now, I’m a sucker for DRAMA! and Meagan Brandy doesn’t spare a dose where this book is concerned.

Another side note, I feel this story could have been better developed. Certain scenes that I felt were viable to the story itself felt like they were rushed through, where as a few small moments that didn’t really matter seemed like they dragged on. But to each their own, that’s just my opinion. Everybody searches for different things when they read. Let’s take one of my favorite moments for instance, The Infamous Cabin Scene. I can see why this particular sexy time scene had to be added in the mix, it basically was a way for us as readers to see how quickly the chemistry between the four was developing. But because it came out of nowhere and it was shortened it felt more perverse than the caring protective moment it was supposed to be. Although I really enjoyed this scene, it needed to be a bit longer and more developed. What can I say but, I love freaky moments that shock the hell out of me. Hellooooo you sexy beasts!

Just be warned, if you all can’t stand cliffhangers, I highly recommend you wait until Trouble At Brayshaw High bk2 in the series. This one ends on a cliffhanger that will have you begging for answers. I’m sitting here still dumbfounded. Poor Maddoc! Seriously, I can’t wait to see this upcoming drama unfold!
