Skye Copeland is on paid leave from her broadcasting job after accidentally drawing a pecker on the traffic map.
Let that sink in. Like it’s her fault the traffic pattern created a perfect schlong?
Skye isn’t laughing. She needs this job. And that’s the only reason she’s willing to chase down a story in her least favorite place—that hell on earth known as Vermont.
A quick trip. In and out. Much like – never mind. She can sneak into the town that once tried to break her, get the story and slide back into the good graces of her producer. Easy peasy.
But things go sideways the moment she steps over the county line. Her stepsister is running from a violent drug dealer. And the cop on the case is none other than Benito Rossi, the man who broke Skye’s teenage heart.
His dark brown eyes still tear her apart. And even as she steals herself to finally tell him off after twelve years, the old fireworks are still there.
Things are about to go boom.

**Arc Received for an honest review**
Fireworks is the sixth book in the True North series. Having only read the first book (Bittersweet) in the series myself, I can tell you on good authority this book can be read as a standalone….however, I feel you’ll get more out of the story and the characters if you read the first five books in the series before diving into this one. It’s not necessary but beneficial.
Fireworks is Skye Copeland and Benito Rossi’s story.
Do You love Second Chance love stories. How about the sweetness that comes along with first love. If you answered yes to both questions, you should definitely pick up Fireworks today!
It’s been years since the night Skye left Vermont with a broken heart. After she receives a call from her stepsister to bring her a kayak, she gets in her car and travels all the way across the country to do just that. After all, its only a weekend….Right?! That’s what she thinks, until she finds herself vehicle less at a gas station with a note from her step sister telling her to call Benito, the man, who unknowingly, caused her heart and was the cause of her great escape.
Starting this one, I had no idea on what to expect. Having only read one novel by Sarina Bowen, I’m not that familiar with her writing style…yet. That is seriously about to change!
I couldn’t get enough of Skye and Benito’s past and present relationship. The back and forth pull these two share is one of the key factors that kept me so invested in their story.
I loved the mysterious, keep you on the edge of your seat, vibe involving Skye’s stepfather and her stepsister. I was livid with her stepfather’s actions. That man is a bona fide asshole. I don’t remember ever hating a character as much as I hated him. For years he prayed on Skye’s innocence and the situation her mother put the two of them in. So when she finally got even, you can bet I stood up and cheered her on!
Now onto the reasoning behind why I had to drop a star…
Even though I really enjoyed Skye and Benito’s story there were some points I felt shouldn’t have been in this novel. I loved Benito, up until he received a text message from his regular booty call…..who also happens to be someone negative from Skye’s past. I felt this moment was unnecessary and completely changed the way I viewed Benito. If you supposedly love a girl and have continued to love her throughout the years, you don’t go off and sleep with the woman who made her life hell throughout the high school years, and then not chase after her right away, but instead comfort the arch nemesis, when the situation is exposed. This one scene left a sour taste in my mouth and completely changed the whole dynamic of the romance for me. But towards the end, Benito made it up to me with his strong and protective Alpha-vibes. I love a man in a uniform! I seriously can’t wait to binge the rest of the True North series! Country men and small town romance is where it’s at!
Peace Love and Happy Reading,
