Blurb:
The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.
In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.
Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.
Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.
An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.
Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.
Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.
All we have to do is trust enough to fall.
My Review
One of my most anticipated reads of 2018 is finally here!!! Jax Blackburn took a chance with his life and failed now he’s living with the repercussions that come along with trying to take his own life. Now he has to face his friends and band mates head on and try to get through this long rough road he has in front of him. Shopping before a snow storm sounds like a good idea, until he runs into Stella and she steals his ice cream.
As the relationship grew from ice cream thief to something a little more, I started to see firsthand how protective Jax and Stella started to get of each other. The loyalty was strong. And going through a situation that Jax was going through he needed that kind of connection. He needed someone to lean on but also needed to be reminded that he was also a person that could be leaned on if need be. He needed to know he wasn’t alone in the world and when push came to shove he would have people in his corner. He would have Stella in his corner.
I have to admit, there were so many moments in this book that made me laugh out loud. I loved the witty banter between Jax and Stella. It added to the attraction and made the chemistry that much more. But I have to say, this novel isn’t all giggles and laughs. There is also some heavy angst that comes along with the story line. And this type of angst may be a trigger to some people. Having went through depression a time or two in my life, I completely understand the struggles Jax felt and I praise Kristen Callihan for shining a light on a situation that is so easily sugar-coated, passed over, and swept under the rug. I admire the strength it took to write this heartbreaking and heartfelt story.
Overall, I loved Fall. I loved the meaning and I loved the struggles that someone suffering with depression deals with on a day-to-day basis. I loved all the character connections and even shed a tear or two during the Jax/Killian breakdown scene….Ah all the feels!! I loved this one!
