Blurb:

From bestselling author L.J. Shen, comes a new standalone, enemies-to-lovers romance.

Célian Laurent.
Manhattan royalty.
Notorious playboy.
Heir to a media empire.
…And my new boss.

I could have impressed him, if not for last month’s unforgettable one-night stand.
I left it with more than orgasms and a pleasant memory–namely, his wallet.
Now he’s staring me down like I’m the dirt under his Italian loafers, and I’m supposed to take it.
But the thing about being Judith “Jude” Humphry is I have nothing to lose.
Brooklyn girl.
Infamously quirky.
Heir to a stack of medical bills and a tattered couch.
When he looks at me from across the room, I see the glint in his eyes, and that makes us rivals.
He knows it.
So do I.
Every day in the newsroom is a battle.
Every night in his bed, war.
But it’s my heart at stake, and I fear I’ll be raising the white flag.

3.5 Stars

L.J. Shen is on of my most anticipated newly discovered authors. After reading Midnight Blue and her Sinners of Saint series, I quickly caught on that she excels at writing a great asshole characters and I can’t seem to get enough.

While reading the blurb for DIrty Headlines, I was intrigued but also a little on the fence on whether I wanted to give this book a read or not. It sounded a tad bit cliché but still I was intrigued.

I’m happy I gave this book a chance. I’m new to the ‘office romance’ scene. It seems the more I read this trope the more I love it and L.J. Shen just made me love it even more.

When I first started reading Dirty Headlines I was all sorts of intrigued! I am a HUGE sucker for one night stand vibes. I love how they always end up biting the participants in the ass, making for some humorous and/or awkward moments. What made it even better was mixing in a little morning after theft! Ah, I knew immediately this wouldn’t end well for Jude but I was surprised to see that this female can seriously hold her own when going up against the ass that trumps all asses!

I loved Jude’s ability to stand up for herself throughout this novel, especially given the hard hand her life has dealt. What with a sick father, a mother that passed away, an ex boyfriend who tried to break her, and now dealing with a boss/one night stand who has the power to ruin her. Jude quickly proves that she isn’t easily broken.

Move aside Vicious, there’s a new a$$hole in L.J. Shen’s library. Célain was a surprise to me. I really enjoyed his character more towards the end. I loved watching this complex man grow and evolve into something more after meeting Jude. He views having feelings as a weakness and considering who his dad is and the way his dad treated him from childhood to now, I don’t blame him for wanting to bury them all down and for viewing them as a weakness, especially his feelings for Jude.

I loved Dirty Headlines, however, throughout the novel, I started to get a little antsy. It took me longer than what I anticipated to get through this novel. I loved the characters and the initial plot but felt the novel was a bit repetitive in some parts and other parts seemed to drag on.

Let’s get back to the positives. I have to honestly say, this novel is one of the sexiest books I’ve read by L.J. Shen. Holy hell, she definitely rocks everything she writes and sex scenes are no exceptions. I loved the chemistry between Jude and Célain from the start! SEXY AS SIN!

Overall, Dirty Headlines is loads of dirty fun! I loved the Enemies-to-lovers vibe and the back and forth banter and don’t even get me started on the sexual tension that led to some very angsty situations! What a great read.

Peace Love and Happy Reading,
