Blurb:

Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete had been left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings.

Sometimes first loves are the truest.

About It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The TIme:

Adele’s life has been a hit and run series of relationships. It’s not her fault that she met the one man she wanted for all time at a young age.. Everything would have been solid, if only Pete wasn’t 15 years older than her.

Now Adele is back for her dad’s wedding and she’s no longer the impressionable teenager she once was. Now its her last chance to get Pete to see her more as a woman and less as the kid he used to know. They are soon going to learn, the age gap isn’t the only issue standing in the way of a relationship between the two. Adele’s father is.

My Thoughts:

Holy Hell, It Seemed Like A Good Idea At The Time is the exact reason why I am a HUGE fan of Kylie Scott’s work! I had no idea what I was getting into when I started ISLAGIATT, A few things I expected though was some hot as hell chemistry, a little bit of drama, and a story that will sweep me away. Kylie Scott delivered all and so much more.

I LOVED Adele’s quirky vibes. That’s another thing I am intrigued by when diving into a novel by Kylie Scott. Her characters aren’t your normal everyday cookie cutter characters. Nah, you never know what’s going to come out of their mouths. It’s so unlike the norm. I loved the witty humor and the endless banter.

Alright, let me be honest, when it comes to the ‘age gap’ trope I’m typically not a fan….at all. I tend to get the Creepy Uncle vibes from novels such as these. But with Adele and Pete’s relationship, not once did I have that Creepy Uncle vibe feeling. I felt the truth and the longing from these two…. At an adult age. Not once did I feel Pete toed the relationship fence when Adele was a teenager. That is usually a huge make it or break it moment for me and Kylie Scott did not let me down.

Overall, I loved both relationship sides of this novel. I loved the young love Adele experienced and the heartache in which her young love feelings initially led to. On an adult point, I loved the slow burn between these two. Adele is scared to death to feel something initially close to what she felt as a teenager, so she puts up a wall forcing Pete out. It’s intriguing to watch Pete bust through those walls when he, himself, still has his guard up. Alright, that’s enough rambling on my part. If you all are looking for something fun with quirky characters and a slow burn vibe, I can easily recommend this book. Don’t let the age gap turn you away, like it almost did me. It’s too great to let it slip through your fingers.
