I just started an advanced copy of Going Rogue by Chantal Fernando! Going Rogue is the 3rd novel in the Cursed Raven’s MC series and is also my most highly anticipated of all the books. From the start, I’ve been enamored by Rogue and his ability to silence a room with his voice. I’m curious to see why he is in a motorcycle club instead of on tour with a record deal. This man is a mystery to me and I can’t wait to uncover his truths! So far, I’m 18% into Going Rogue and I’m loving the chemistry between Rogue and Zoe. I’m finding Rogue to be sweet as hell! He’s going above and beyond all of my expectations!

Love blossoms in the most unexpected of places in this sweet and steamy Cursed Ravens Motorcyle Club title featuring a hunky bad boy and a charming nurse.

The men might tease Rogue and call him pretty behind his back, but no one is going to say that to his face. As the vice president of the Cursed Ravens—and with an unpredictable and unruly temper—respect is given to him at any cost.

But Rogue reins himself in when he visits his mother in a local nursing home. Overwhelmed with guilt that he can’t take care of her himself, he can barely handle watching her fade away with dementia. And he knows the staff is exceptional—especially the sweet and beautiful caregiver who pays extra attention to his mom.

It isn’t easy working at a nursing home, but Zoe enjoys spending time with her favorite patient Anne. She knows Anne has a son who dutifully visits her, but when Zoe sees the tall, muscled, handsome stranger, she can tell he’s trouble—beautiful trouble. She knows he’s a Cursed Raven and she knows better than to admit she’s attracted to him. There’s no way she’ll date an MC member. Been there done that. But as Zoe and Rogue start to get closer, they realize one way or another, they’ll have to fight to stay in each other’s lives.

I’ve been on a reading frenzy this week, I’m trying to stay caught up on my ARC tbr and reviews. It feels like I read a ton of books but the reality shows I only made it through 3 books and 1 Novella. The first book I read and finished was an advanced copy of Quit Your Pitchin’ by Lani Lynn Vale. Quit Your Pitchin’ is the 2nd book in the ‘There’s No Crying In Baseball’ series. I was a tad bit disappointed by this book, I felt there were many holes in the plot that can only be filled by reading the first book. I did like the chemistry between George and Wrigley along with the hilarious moments between the two. It was a good read. I rated Quit Your Pitchin’ 3 out of 5 stars.

What’s wrong with my butt?

She means those words to be directed toward the woman beside her, not him. But he can’t stop himself from answering. Not when her ass is the most magnificent thing he’s seen in his life.

Apparently, answering her with ‘not a damn thing’ wasn’t what she was expecting.

She likely wasn’t expecting the baseball she took to the face at his next at bat, either.

All it takes is one ill-fated foul ball, and George Hoffman, Lumberjacks center fielder, falls head over heels in love with Wrigley Field—and yes, that is her real name.

From that point forward, George and Wrigley fall into a fast whirlwind love that ends with them eloping to Vegas. And he has his potty mouth, titty bar owning, pain in the ass grandmother to thank for it.

Not that he’s complaining or anything.

Who wouldn’t want to be married to a woman that made his heart race like he was in the final game of the World Series?

The only problem is trying to convince her of that.

I also finished an advanced copy of Beyond The Bases by Kaylee Ryan! Beyond The Bases was so freaking adorable. I couldn’t get enough! I’m literally still in a book hangover thanks to Beyond The Bases. 5 out of 5 Stars! Highly Recommend!

What happens when you want more in life than just running the bases?

You hang out at home plate and stop playing the field.

He’s sexy and irresistible. I’ve done my best to ignore the magnetism that flows between us. I don’t need complications in my life. I can’t get wrapped up in his world, the last thing I need is to get attached to a professional athlete. I don’t have time for heartbreak.

Something about her pulls me in. I want to get to know her. I want a chance to show her I’m more than just my career, my paycheck. I’m the man for her. I know I am. No matter how much she resists this connection between us. It doesn’t change the fact that she’s my grand slam.

I decided at last minute to pick up a novella from my bookshelf and give it a read. I wanted something light, quick, and easy so I grabbed Switch Hitter by Sara Ney. Switch Hitter is a novella that starts off the Jock Hard series. I received Switch Hitter in one of my romance reveal book boxes. Since the moment I saw the cover I’ve been intrigued by this book. I literally read it in less than an hour. I wish it was a bit longer but overall it was a great read with great characters. I rated it 4 out of 5 Stars

I knew something was wrong the second she walked in the door tonight; I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was.

Same hair color.
Same legs.
Same face.

Except…I look harder.
At the small dimple beneath her lip that wasn’t there the last time we went out. And her laugh—that laugh isn’t as loud.

This isn’t the girl I’ve gone out with the past few weeks.
It’s her twin sister, and they’ve switched places on me.

Only I’m not quite ready to let them switch back.

Last but certainly not least, today I just finished an advanced copy of Rebel Heart by L.K. Farlow! This book…GAH! I cannot put into words how I felt about this story and these characters. Brock is a cocky egotistical jock who is in dire need of tutoring. Enter Abby Jane, a sweet innocent girl from Brock’s past…only now Miss. Abby Jane isn’t so sweet and innocent. With her hair dyed pink and tattoos gracing her skin Abby Jane is the epitome of every single fantasy Brock never even knew he had. He’ll do anything to keep her this time… even if that anything requires going against his pretentious silver spoon type parents. This was such a fun read! I rated Rebel Heart 4.5 out of 5 stars

She wants to see him get wild and he thinks she needs Jesus.

When AJ Adams is coerced into tutoring Brock Larson, she can’t help but wonder what she’s done to deserve such an epic punishment. He’s the very definition of an All-American good boy—and a total kiss ass. He’s the perfect son, the perfect student, and according to rumor, by far the best golfer the university has ever seen. Puh-lease. If he’s so perfect, why does he need tutoring?

With his British Literature grade circling the drain, Brock knows he needs help. But when he meets his tutor, he can’t believe his friggin’ luck. Abby Jane no longer resembles the childhood best friend he used to play hide and seek with. No, she’s all attitude and pink hair and tattoos. Oh, and she hates him, so that’s a plus.

Brock and AJ couldn’t clash more and antagonizing one another is just too easy. But, as they spend more time together, the lines begin to blur, leading them to realize they have more in common than what meets the eye.

Hate. Lust. Love. They all look the same when you’re in denial, and everyone knows you can’t control your rebel heart.

I have a few arcs to get through and review for the beginning of august. I also have one book that just made it to my weekly tbr because I didn’t realize a book I requested on netgalley was the second book in a duet.  I have a great reading week planned for the rest of the week! I cannot wait to dive into these books!

The Controversial Princess (Smoke & Mirrors, #1)

The Controversial Princess
(Smoke and Mirrors Duology #1)

By: Jodi Ellen Malpas

Blurb:

Her father is The King of England.

She is The Controversial Princess.

Regarded as down to earth by the press and rebellious by The King, Princess Adeline refuses to bow to the royal expectations her title carries. She knows better than anyone that the united front of the royal family is nothing but smoke and mirrors – lies and secrets masked by power and privilege. She wants no part of it, and she will never surrender to The King’s demand to marry a man she does not love. But despite Adeline’s determination to retain her free will, she remains deeply unfulfilled, feeling caged and suffocated.

That is until she meets Josh Jameson. Drawn in by his confidence, Adeline is soon captivated by the scandalously sexy American actor. His ability to penetrate her defences overwhelms her – his touch is pure fire, and his allure overpowering. Nothing has ever made her feel so alive in a world where she’s otherwise slowly drowning. However, while Josh may be Hollywood royalty, he’s not actual royalty, and Adeline knows The King and his advisors will do everything in their power to keep them apart.

But Josh Jameson becomes the princess’s ultimate vice.

And although she bows to no one, she bows to him.

His True Queen (Smoke & Mirrors, #2)

His True Queen
(Smoke and Mirrors Duet #2)

By: Jodi Ellen Malpas

Arc received through netgalley

Blurb:

The breathtaking conclusion of the Smoke & Mirrors Duology.

A beautiful, defiant princess. A renowned, sinfully gorgeous Hollywood actor.

A love affair that is sure to rock the British Monarchy…and the world.

Their love affair began intensely and passionately. Princess Adeline and Josh Jameson knew any future together was impossible—her status as a princess and his standing as a Hollywood heartthrob dictated that. But the heights of pleasure they could take each other to were wildly unanticipated by them both. Josh’s absolute disregard for Adeline’s status quickly drew her into his hedonistic world. And her perfectly worn mask and false façade captivated Josh to the point of obsession. The boundaries became blurred. The physical became emotional. Their hearts became entwined.

But a cruel turn of events rips their worlds apart and Adeline is more bound than ever by the protocol and expectations her title commands. The army of royal advisors who guard the secrets and scandals of the Monarchy will go to unthinkable lengths to keep the smoke and mirrors in place…and Josh away from Adeline. She knows the power she possesses comes with agonizing sacrifices. Walking away from Josh devastates her…but it keeps him safe from the corrupt institution that has ruled her life.

Yet Josh refuses to lose the woman who has consumed him so completely, distorted his boundaries, and stripped him of all sensibility.

Will the power of the British Monarchy triumph? Or will their fierce love for each other change the course of history?

Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at eighteen hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was.

Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation—confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Add her father to the misunderstanding, and Pete had been left with a broken nose and a business on the edge of ruin. The man had to be just as glad as everyone else when she left town.

Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but a fully grown adult more than capable of getting through the wedding and being polite. But all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings.

Sometimes first loves are the truest.
