Blogger Bits is a feature that takes place on the 1st and the 15th of every month. A few book bloggers and I get together and discuss random bookish topics! As always, I will leave the links to the other bloggers posts at the end of this post! Feel free to check them out! if you are interested in joining blogger bits leave a link to your post in the comments and I’ll be sure to share your link at the bottom of my post!

This Blogger Bits is perfect for the new year! As you are probably aware by the title, this post is all about Bookish Goals for 2018! First up on the list is,

Finish Outlander by Diana Gabaldon!

I have had this series for a year now and I’ve only made it a couple of chapters into the first book (Outlander). One of my goals this year is to finish the first book in this series and hopefully move onto the next! I love the Outlander tv series so I’m pretty sure I will love this book even more. The struggle is real though because the size of this book is intimidating as hell!

Complete my Goodreads Challenge!ย

As always one of my top goals of the year is to complete my reading challenge on goodreads. This year I chose 200 books again. In 2017 I managed to accomplish my goal plus a few extra books. If I reach 200 I’ll up it to 210.

Read more new-to-me authors.ย

I found last year I read more authors that I’m familiar with than authors that are new-to-me. I plan on reading at least one author that is new-to-me per month. I’m excited for this challenge I have set for myself!

Read more paperbacks from my shelf.ย

I have five bookshelves full of books and if I’m being completely honest, more than half of them have gone unread. I plan on reading 3-5 paperbacks from my shelves each month. They will be added to my TBR at the beginning of each month. Which brings me to goal #5,

Set a TBR each month and actually FOLLOW THROUGH!ย

I am that type of person who gets soย  scatter brainedย when it comes to TBR lists. I love to read, I’m also very go with the flow when it comes to my free reading days (days I don’t have arcs to read). This year that is about to change, I plan on getting through the books on my 2018 paperback tbr shelf! You can check that shelf out on my goodreads by clicking HERE.ย Last but not least,

Let the books I’m not feeling go!ย

Last year I found I wasted a lot of time on reading novels that I started and wasn’t into at all. This year I plan on letting those novels die. Let it go, LET IT GO! If you feel it’s not going to get any better, chances are you are right.

I definitely have my work cut out for me this year! I have a feeling 2018 is going to be a great reading year. Let me know in the comments what you’re Bookish goals for 2018 are and also don’t forget to drop your link in the comments if you posted a blogger bits!

  1. Alecia, I love this list!

First, Outlander is amazing! I have made it through quite a few books in this series, but it truly is a commitment because they are not quick and easy reads, but they are well worth it!

Second, I have the new to me author goal as well. Have you tried the Quirky Blind Date with a Book yet? It’s perfect for this goal.

And, I love that you are going to let books go you are not feeling. This is something I always struggle with, especially since those books tend to be ones I have promised a review for. It’s miserable to be trapped in a book you don’t love when you know there is a pile of books waiting on your TBR.

    Have a great year reading!

    1. Thank you <3
I know the struggle of Outlander lol, I've been trying to read the first book in the series for the past year but everytime I seem to be making movement I find I have another arc due. This year though, I set a limit of arcs to request per month so I have time to read the books that are neglected on my shelf…including Outlander.

I have heard of the Quirky Blind Date with a book, it sounds interesting. I have so many new-to-me authors on my shelves, I'm all set for that goal. I still might look into it though.

I totally just blew the 'letting books go' goal out of the water. I DNF'd a book yesterday, but my brain wouldn't shut up about the storyline so I picked it back up and finished it, and I still didn't care to much for the novel, UGH…why do I do this to myself lol.

  2. Good luck with Outlander. You’ve made it further than I have so far. I think I read a page or two and then was overwhelmed by its shear size and number of books.

    1. That’s the same thing I did when I first got the series. I read a few pages and I literally freaked at the size of the book. I love the television series so It’s safe to say I will enjoy this series….That’s when I eventually pick it back up ๐Ÿ™‚
