She’s also the only woman to flip his world upside down since his wife. And she’s leaving for college in two days, which is good considering he’s not looking for a relationship, not now, not with the agony that lives inside him from his past. But Roan can’t kick the craving he now has for Mia.

One choice changed everything.

After years away, Mia realizes they just aren’t meant to be. So she vows to keep her focus on her career and forget about the one-night stand that rocked her world so long ago. But when work transfers her back to Boston, a place that holds so many memories, she has no choice but to go. All she has to do is stick to her plan and keep her focus on work, which should be easy, right?

Besides, in a city of half a million people, how hard can it be to avoid the perfect bastard?

✮✮✮✮

The Perfect Bastard is a story about the true struggles of being a single father and raising two teenage girls. I love the ‘single father’ trope, I love the emotion that shines bright through the characters with this trope!

Seven years ago Roan’s wife (Georgia) signed her rights away, split, and left him alone to raise their two girls. Now the girls are teenagers and he’s questioning everything he did as a father in the past and feeling it wasn’t enough. Roan is a man with a fighters heart. He’s always had the mentality to punch now and think later. I love men in the novels I read to be headstrong with a underlying vulnerability and Roan fit that description perfectly.

Mia (Roan’s best friends little sister) steps back into the picture. Roan and Mia shared a night of white hot passion years ago before she left for college. With a nine year age difference and the fact that Mia is Roan’s best friends little sister, they decided to keep their one night stand between the two of them. But for four years Mia has lived her life comparing every partner she had to ‘the one that literally ran away’. Now Mia is back and Roan isn’t about to repeat his mistakes. This time he’s staying, the ball is now in Mia’s court.

I loved the hell out of Mia and her slow build relationship with Roan’s girls. I also loved the true sullen teenage emotions. The struggles the girls went through with being abandoned by their mother and Roan stepping up and trying like hell to make everything right for them. another point I really enjoyed was the fact that Mia didn’t try to step in a fill the mother role. Instead she became a friend and a confidant for the girls. She never pushed for them to like her, she was herself.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Perfect Bastard. I always look forward to a new LK Collins novel and this one did not disappoint!!!
