My thoughts:
I’m torn on how to rate this book! this hasn’t ever really happened to me when it comes to reading and reviewing a novel.
Blow touches on the subject of drug addiction. The issue at hand when writing about such an intense subject is whether or not the author did his or her research.
I felt in some portions of Bodhi’s journey to sobriety the author did in fact do the story justice. Trust me ill never look at another lady bug without freaking out again.
But then in other parts it fell flat for me. It was just okay.
I’m not sure if it was intentional or not but the beginning of the novel was severely lacking emotion. When reading a novel that touches on addiction or any angsty subject I need to feel emotion from the characters starting with the very first page.
I didn’t feel that.
Blow did pick up for me around the time Bodhi was checked into the rehab facility and he met Kim.
I loved their relationship i just wished it would have focused more on that and less on the woe is me.
I am intrigued by the other characters in Virtuous Paradox. i sense some angsty novels in this series’ future. That being said i do plan on continuing on with the series.
