Author: Nicole Williams
Genre: Contemporary romance/ Sports theme
Release Date: October 9th
Synopsis
The whole world might be in love with him. But all he’s ever loved is her.
Grant Turner’s name is synonymous with football. The fans and media can’t get enough of the player known as The Invincible Man, a nickname he earned while growing up in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the country and the nickname he’s kept by being one of the best players in professional football today. No one can take him down. He’s unstoppable.
But even a suit of armor has its weak point, and Grant’s has always been Ryan Hale.
They were a couple of kids when they fell in love, and just when it looked like the happy ending neither expected was within reach, Ryan disappeared. No explanations. No good-byes.
Grant coped by throwing himself into the game for seven years, and he’s finally moved on. Or so he thinks.
When she walks back into his life, all of those feelings come crashing back, despite the warnings in his head that tell him she’ll leave him again. Grant can withstand the league’s toughest defensive line, but he’s always been weak where she’s concerned.
No man can take Grant Turner down.
But one woman certainly can.
One woman will.

My Thoughts
Arc received in exchange for an honest review
This is the second time i found rating a novel to be difficult. I never do half stars but i’m going to make an exception because i don’t feel this novel should be rated as low as a 3 star but i also don’t feel i can rate it a 4 star (it’s close though). To me this novel would be rated a 3.5 stars.
Touching Down is told from Ryan’s POV. Ryan left her hometown and everyone she loved when she was sixteen. She disappeared without a trace breaking ‘her boyfriend at the time’ Grant’s heart. She is now back with two shocking secrets.
I loved the idea of this novel. it sounded like a whole lot of angst and turmoil surrounding around heartbreak with a killer HEA! I however was disappointed and here is the reason’s why.
You know every angsty romance novel has a couple buildup scenes. The scenes that you can tell something really bad is going to happen and your sitting on the ledge waiting for your heart to be crushed and stepped on over and over again. Well this novel had a couple of those scenes and each time i was sadly left with my heart still intact. The buildup was a huge let down.
I feel as if there are some holes in this novel. Like the talk about going to Europe and seeking treatment to slow down the Diagnosis and basically become a test subject for the new drug. What the hell why was that mentioned but not added into it. That’s a huge chunk of the novel. Another thing is all the flashback talk without going into detail about certain events there was a few instances in the novel where Ryan mentioned her life when she was a teen but there were never any details. I guess it’s a fill in the blanks situation?
Even though my review vibe is negative (which i highly dislike), I did enjoy the story. I liked how this novel involves a diagnosis that we don’t usually hear about in novels and the details described of what the disease does to ones body. I also loved how the connection between Grant and Charlie was immediately unbreakable from the first time he set eyes on her. (if you don’t know who Charlie is….you’re just going to have to read it to understand!) and i did really enjoy Ryan and Grant’s relationship.
Thanks Everyone for checking out my review. Remember reviews are just to help guide you. Make your own decisions. If a novel sounds good to you, read it. Our views and opinions are all different! 🙂
Peace, Love, and Happy Reading!
