Synopsis from Goodreads
In high school, they’d burned fast and hot. Now is their chance to find out if the sparks that linger will ignite a whole new flame.
The only thing Darcy Miller ever wanted more than gorgeous troublemaker Griffin Strong was to shake off the dust of small-town Revival, Illinois, and head to the big city—even if she had to leave him behind. Ten years later, Darcy is the ultimate New Yorker, writing a sex blog and living on designer cocktails and the pulse of urban life. That is, until she hears that Revival plans to seize her mother’s house right after the holidays, thanks to the new mayor—who is none other than Darcy’s ex…
Griffin couldn’t have asked for a more dangerous Christmas gift. Curvy, sassy Darcy is every bit as delectable as the wild child she was in high school—and just as determined to stir up problems. But Griffin learned long ago to straighten up and fly right in order to make changes in the town he loves. Keeping his reputation wholesome is a big part of that. If only Darcy didn’t make him want to take his place on the naughty list with her, right under the mistletoe…
My Review:
4 Stars
She’s my kind of girl is a novella from the Something New Series. I have never read a novel from the Something New Series so I was a little worried when I found out this was a novella in the series. I’m happy to say I was not lost at all. There was no confusion. You can read this novella as a standalone if you too are a first time reader of the series.
She’s my kind of girl actually left me intrigued and wanting to read the series!
This novella centers around Darcy and Griffin. From what I gather Darcy and Griffin where the troublemaking it couple in high school. Darcy had dreams of leaving their small town Revival and living in the big city (New York). She begged Griffin to go with her but he refused and stayed behind to help out with his little brothers.
Now we fast forward ten years later.
Darcy hasn’t been back to her hometown since she walked away from everything she loved and cared about. But after she receives a panicked phone call from her mom stating she is about to lose her house to a new community rebuild Darcy puts her life on hold to help her mom settle things.
When she comes back to Revival she gets a shock of a lifetime finding out Griffin is now the town’s mayor.
Griffin has worked hard to rebuild his tarnished reputation and has now earned the respect from the people of revival. That is until Trouble walks back into his life.
I did really enjoy this novel. She’s My Kind of Girl is a cute, quick read involving a second chance romance. Loved the idea of the reformed bad boy and the runaway coming back together again! I’m actually looking forward to reading the series in the future. I’m curious to see how it all plays out from the Beginning.
I loved how sneaky Darcy’s mom was in order to get Darcy back in the town! That right there is what you call the true art of manipulation.
The only reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the fact that I felt this novel could have been a little longer. I know it’s a novella but I felt a little more detail might have been nice during certain scenes. Also I would have liked to see more scenes of Darcy and her Mom together. I mean that is the reason why Darcy came back to Revival to help her mom keep her house and what not.
But other than that one hiccup, I really enjoyed this heartwarming Novella!

Peace Love and Happy Reading,
