Synopsis:
One truth can explain everything.
Declan Kelly has spent his entire adult life saving people, all the while avoiding any real connections or emotions. He’s already been destroyed once, and after she ruined him, he knows he’ll never love again.
Almost two decades later, Declan moves back home to raise his daughter around his family. He tried to prepare himself for how he would react when he saw Amie, but could never have anticipated just how hard it would be to remain unaffected.
Amie Dotson knew from the moment she lied that Dec wouldn’t forgive her… but she didn’t want him to. Lying was easier than the truth because he would have stayed for her, and she didn’t want him to miss out on his dreams because of her.
Harboring more than one secret, Amie tries to avoid Declan when she discovers he’s back in town, but when he sees the evidence marring her body, she knows he’ll do whatever it takes to remove the fear from her eyes.
When the truth is revealed, can two people finally find the happiness they lost but never forgot?

My Review:

3.5 stars.

I was really torn with what i was going to rate Give Me This. I NEVER rate with half stars but i felt this book didn’t deserve a rating as low as a three star.
Let’s start the review with the cover. I was drawn to this cover. You can tell it’s going to be an emotional story.
Give Me This is book 5 in the ‘It’s Kind Of Personal’ series. This book can be read as a stand alone. Take my word for it, this is the first book i read in the series.

Give Me This is a sweet turned dark second chance romance

(If that makes sense. You’ll just have to read it to see what i mean)

Give me this centers around Amie and Declan. At sixteen years old Declan and Amie face an attraction towards one another. But neither one knows the others feelings until one day when Declan gathers up the courage to ask Amie out on a date.
Of course Amie says yes and that is the start of this whirlwind romance.
A couple years down the road the couple is still going strong. Dec decides he wants to join the Coast Guard and save people. He leaves Amie behind for 6 months so he can go to boot camp and training.
When he comes back though he finds nothing to be the same.
Amie isn’t the same. He expects her to meet him at the airport along with the rest of his family but she doesn’t show.
He goes to confront her and what she confesses breaks his heart.

Jump to the future…..

After a past woman from one night stand shows up and drops a baby girl off on Declan’s front steps he decides to move back home. The heartache and pain still lives deeply inside his heart. But he has to do what’s best for his daughter. No distractions.
He discovers Amie still lives in town only she doesn’t live alone. She is in a volitile relationship with Larry. Larry is mentally and physically abusive. The saddest part of this novel was the fact that because of the stuff Amie went through back in the day she felt Larry is what she deserved.

Declan discovers that for the past 16 (i think) years Amie has been keeping a secret from him. The lies she kept burried all these years come to the surface and the truths are finally told.

If that isn’t enough drama for you trust me there is more. When everything is happy and you think things will work out for this couple BAM…something happens that is so unexpected it will shock the life right out of you…

I literally was staring at my tablet with my mouth hanging open. It just jumped out of nowhere and i wasn’t expecting it. That moment is when the novel started to improve.

why i rated Give me This the way i did.

I rated Give Me This 3.5 stars because i felt there was maybe a little to much drama. I know that is odd for me to say because i LOVE angsty novels but sometimes you can overdo it slightly.

I felt the story line was to fast. I wish there was more of a struggle while Amie and Declan where getting back together.

I DID ENJOY READING GIVE ME THIS BY ANNA BROOKS.

Don’t let the two issues above determine your choice on whether or not you read this because honesty i did enjoy this novel and if you like angsty reads i would definitely tell you to give it a shot because it IS good but the two issues i listed above i couldn’t get over.

Peace Love and Happy Reading,

The (1)
