If you’re Kate Evans, you keep your friend Rachel, bond with her kids, and bury your feelings for her husband. The fact that Shane’s in the military and away for long periods helps-but when tragedy strikes, everything changes.
After Rachel, pregnant with her fourth child, dies in a car accident and the baby miraculously survives, Kate upends her entire life to share parenting duties. Then on the first anniversary of Rachel’s death, Kate and Shane take comfort in each other in a night that they both soon regret.
Shane’s been angry for a year, and now he feels guilty too – for sleeping with his wife’s best friend and liking it . . . liking her. Kate’s ability to read him like a book may have once sent Shane running, but their lives are forever entwined and they are growing closer.
Now with Shane deployed for seven months, Kate is on her own and struggling with being a single parent. Shane is loving and supportive from thousands of miles away, but his homecoming brings a betrayal Kate never saw coming. So Kate’s only choice is to fight for the future she deserves – with or without Shane. . .
My review:
Unbreak my Heart actually Broke my heart.
Nicole Jacquelyn managed to hook me in from the first page. I have a little bit of a love hate relationship with this book, It was a little hard to rate it because i absolutely despised Shane (Hero) and the way he treated Kate (Heroine).
Also the fact that it seems like no body respects Girl Code these days. For example If you know your best friend has a crush on a guy and has been secretly in love with him for years you don’t hook up with said guy and then marry him months down the road. You also don’t ask your best friend to drop what she is doing and help take care of her and said husbands kids while he is deployed And then when husband comes back you sure as hell don’t drop your best friend like she is yesterdays trash. (i’m also not a fan of Rachel’s if you couldn’t tell.)
I did however love the bond that Kate had with the kids. Also I loved the parts with Abraham (Kate’s brother). I loved how he was so protective of his sister when it came to Shane. He is the only one that had the balls to step up to him and tell him exactly what he thought of him.
If your looking for an angsty read that is full of gut-wrenching turmoil then Unbreak my Heart is the book for you!
I had a little trouble rating this book because i had such a strong love/hate relationship with it. The parts i loved equaled out the parts i hated so…..
I am so excited to read Abraham’s story! His and Anita’s story is Change of Heart; which is up next in the series!!!
Peace Love and Happy Reading,
