Gathering Storms is the fourth book in Lex Martin’s Wild At Heart Series. Let me start this review by stating, I am a fan of romance novels featuring musicians add a bonus if the musician is an up and coming country star. Add an extra bonus if the country star is a single dad! My heart couldn’t take all the first time protective daddy vibes! I adored Rory and Jace’s story so much! If you find yourself loving the tropes I just listed, I would pick up Gathering Storms as your next read!
So let’s dive into a little of what Gathering Storms is all about. Jace has always dreamed of being on the big stage with thousands of fans singing along to the lyrics he wrote. But that dream was always a fingertips length out of reach, until now. Now, Jace is looking at a summer long tour with a big name headlining act, the only problem. A woman just dropped a baby off at his doorstep claiming he is the father and she doesn’t want to be a mother. So what is Jace to do, he refuses to leave his baby girl for all those months…
Enter Rory, shy book obsessed librarian with a heart of gold and a fiery spirit. Rory hates everything about Jace from his chosen occupation as a musician down to the fact that he is irresistible to look at and screams heartbreaker. But when she finds herself almost out on her butt with no job, her friends (Jace’s Sister-in laws) come up with a quick solution. The solution being Rory joins Jace on his tour. AND that is all I’m giving away!
I loved Jace from the start of this novel. I loved everything from his adoration for the daughter he just met and his ambition. The one thing I didn’t love was putting his career above more important factors like peoples feelings. And I didn’t like the fact that he never thought situations threw. He went along with a lot that led to me sitting back and wondering when everything was going to blow up in his face. So my emotions were all over the place when it came to this man.
Also, at the beginning of this novel, I wasn’t sure if I liked Rory’s character. She was a bit reserved and judgmental to start off with. But as the novel went on, I understood her reasoning for keeping people an arm length away. This woman was put through the wringer in past relationships and I would probably be the same way too. I swear though, it was that little baby girl that helped her creep out of her shell and be the woman she was always meant to be. I adored Rory throughout Gathering Storms!
Everything I love about books pertaining to the rockstar romance trope was in this novel. From the touring, to the on stage moments, and then sitting back and trying to work out songs on a tour bus moments all were present! I couldn’t stop reading this one and that is the reasoning behind why I gave this novel a five star rating! I adored every single moment! My heart is full and I’m extremely happy about that happily ever after! I can’t wait to see what’s coming next in this series! I have a feeling this next story is going to be extremely emotional and I CAN’T WAIT!!!!!!
