Synopsis:
As the daughter of rock and roll’s most notorious producer, Sophie Drayton has seen enough bright lights and big city to last ’til she’s ninety.
Now that she’s ditched the wild life in LA to pursue her passion for books, she wants nothing more than to live on the straight and narrow and spend a quiet Christmas alone.
The last thing she needs is the attention of a cocky bad boy stripper—no matter how sexy his smile is.
Emilio Barrett knows all about cover-ups. After all, his job is just one act after another. He can tell there’s more to feisty, guarded Sophie than she lets on.
But Emilio has secrets of his own. When Sophie’s past collides with his truths, will Sophie’s defenses win out, or will Emilio prove that a bad boy can also be a good man?

Play Me by Kimberly Kincaid is a standalone quickie read featuring a woman (Sophie) in hiding from the life she left behind and a male revue dancer (Emilio) who is trying to make it in the music business any way he can.
Sophie left the tragic life she left behind a year ago and is making her way through her Master’s degree by bussing tables and taking orders on the graveyard shift at the town diner. By chance she meets a handsome stranger that checks every box on the ‘off-limits’ list she has created. But Emilio tends to get what he wants, and Sophie falls under his spell.
But life isn’t all rainbows and hearts because both are keeping secrets close to their hearts that could very well blow up their happily ever after.
My Thoughts:
Play Me by Kimberly Kincaid wasn’t at all what I expected. I’m mostly positive with this quick read and I have only one slightly negative remark. Because this is a quick read, my thoughts are a bit quick too. I really enjoyed the connection between Emilio and Sophie. I loved the endless passion and watching them slowly push back the wall that each have created. My heart loved their connection and yearned for more!
My only hesitation was the fact that I wished it were longer. I would have loved diving deeper into Emilio’s passion and see him reaching and living his dreams.I also would have loved to see Sophie get her happily ever after not only with Emilio but also with her father/daughter relationship.
Bottom line, this one needed to be longer!
If it had been longer, I can guarantee it would have easily been a five star read for me. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to Emilio and Sophie. I needed more.
