Fumbled Hearts is the first book in Meagan Brandy’s Fumbled Futures Series. New Adult, Football, and loads of heat…. HELL YES! I’m here for it! This is the second time I read Fumbled Hearts, and in all honesty, I may have loved it more the second time around than I did the first! Nate and Kali’s story was heart wrenching, spicy, and definitely worthy of the reread!
So let’s dive into what Fumbled Hearts is all about. Kalani Lee Embers had it all in the palm of her hand, and then one fateful night, everything she loved and cared for in her life ended tragically. Now, Kali is enrolled in a new school finishing up her senior year so she can run the businesses that have been handed down to her. Her main goal is to finish her classes and move back to California. No relationships and no distractions. That is until Nate Monroe enters her orbit.
Enter Nate Monroe, hot shot football player with big dreams and a bright future in the sport. Oh, and did I forget to mention his manwhore title. Yeah, he has a reputation of sleeping with all the girls. But his rule comes with a one time only stipulation. That is, until, Kalani Ember steps into his view and doesn’t fall for his charming manwhore ways. She’s a catch, and once Nate Catches her, it’s going to be forever.
My Thoughts:
Meagan Brandy poured her heart and soul into Nate and Kali’s story and it shows through all the emotions felt throughout. The first time reading Fumbled Hearts there were so many tears. Going into the book the second time around, I didn’t expect to tears to come… but once again I found myself quietly sobbing into a throw pillow while cursing these two for not seeing the manipulation from others that was taking place. Ugh, I literally wanted to throw something at Olivia and Jarrod!! Pushing the rant aside. I decided to move my 4 star rating up to a 4 ½ star rating because I cried even though I knew what was going to happen!
Let’s dive into the characters, starting with Kalani. There was something about her overall vibe that had me wanting more chapters from her. I loved her ability to be completely honest. This woman had no filter and a bullshit meter that was out of this world. I loved how she spoke her mind and easily threw herself in the line of fire for those who mean the most to her. I also loved the fact that even though she tried not to, she wore her heart on her sleeve. My heart broke for her and the past that kept haunting her. But I loved the fact that the more time she spent with Nate, the more her broken heart started to heal. She is a warrior and as fierce as they come.
And then we have Nate Monroe! I freaking loved his alpha-male tendencies! I loved his possessive streak. I also loved the softness he showed to only Kalani. My heart adored how gentle he was with her and his ability to take the relationship slow, for her sake. The he falls first concept was epic! But, that moment in time, I wanted to reach through my kindle and slap this man upside his head for not putting his trust in the person he loved. I literally screamed at my kindle! This is the second time reading this novel, and I knew what was coming, but still I found myself screaming at my kindle during those antics!
Overall, I loved this book so much more the second time around than I did the first. Kalani and Nate’s romance is epic in all ways that matter. My heart is still racing with that happily ever after! Now, it’s time to dive into Defenseless Hearts! I can’t wait to continue on with this series!!
